Got sad news today. After 7 years of medical training, my good friend has been struck off after one minor indiscretion. He slept with one of his patients & now can no longer work in the job he loves. What a waste of time, training & money. A genuinely nice guy, and a great vet.

@thepupmommy @TweeetsOfDogs I have lost five dogs to weakness in their hind legs and some dementia where they did not know where they were. A dog fed on dry dog food is malnourished, so I will feed my next dog with mackerel, cooked chicken, and red meat scraps once a day in the evening until sated.

To the writer of this post, I have lost six dogs in 12 yrs, some to cancer.

When I have had to make the decision to euthanize, I ask myself three questions: is my dog in pain, what is its quality of life, and what will my dog have to endure for me to keep it alive.

Always remember that when it comes to making the decision to euthanize, that it is NOT about you, it's about your dog and what's best for him/her. And that's what makes it so hard, because we don't want to let go.

Czarina was my rock for 12 yrs, 3 mons. She was always by my side. She was left incontinent from the effects of IVDD, but her 5 senses were intact and I rationalized I could help her, bathing and cleaning her.

Until I took this video of her struggling to reach me and I broke down, asking myself, "what have I done." She died in my arms the next day with the dignity she deserved.
