Politico's Playbook email newsletter and Times Radio have secured a powerful foothold in the daily routine of Members of Parliament, according to new research.
Our snap survey of politicians' media habits reveals that the two relatively new platforms are closing in on traditional news and politics programmes produced by established broadcasters or print media.
➡️ More MPs said they read Politico's London Playbook emails than listen to BBC Radio 4's Today programme. Almost 59 per cent of MPs questioned said they read Playbook, compared to 56 per cent who said they listened to Today.
➡️ Times Radio Breakfast now has the ear of 28 per cent of MPs – that’s ahead of BBC1 Breakfast (17 per cent), Politics at Sam and Anne’s Podcast (15 per cent) Good Morning Britain (11 per cent) and BBC Radio 5 Live Breakfast (4 per cent)
➡️ X (or Twitter) is still well used with 50 per cent of MPs saying it is their primary social media platform while Facebook remains the primary social media for 28 per cent of MPs. LinkedIn is the primary social media for 6.5 per cent of MPs.
➡️ Politicians were also asked which platform they turned to first in the morning to get their news and 47 per cent of MPs said they look to ‘news websites’ while 30 per cent listen to the radio first. Social media is the first port of call in the morning for 15 per cent of MPs but none said they turn to TV first.

I’m (attempting to) run my first 10k this Saturday for the @NAT_AIDS_Trust 🏃♂️
Their advocacy helps stop HIV from standing in the way of health, dignity and equality, and works towards ending new HIV transmissions.

We're launching iNHouse Media and announcing two new Media Directors: Ex-Mirror Executive Editor Michael Greenwood, and the promotion of our Head of Media Daniel Mazliah.
They're joining our founder, and first female No10 Director of Communications, Katie Perrior to build on our best-in-class media relations in the new unit.
Katie, Michael and Daniel will work closely with iNHouse’s talented group of consultants to deliver impactful, integrated media campaigns and provide expert C-suite counsel and crisis management alongside award-winning public affairs support.
It's the most successful 12 months in the agency’s history in which we've made a series of Director-level appointments and had a succession of major client wins in energy, higher-education and infrastructure sectors.
The team will be at the iNHouse Lounge throughout Labour conference next week. See you there!
