Noise from blank rounds is expected. This is a controlled exercise, providing realistic, hands-on experience for midshipmen. All activity is directed away from public areas and poses no risk. We appreciate your support and understanding as we conduct this operational training.
Public Announcement: This evening, from approx. 6-9 PM, USNA will conduct a training exercise on portions of USNA campus, Severn River, North Severn, and Greenbury Point. The community may see an increased presence of military personnel, boats, drones, and lights in the area.
NSAA/USNA Operating Status for Tuesday, January 27, 2026: NSA Annapolis and U.S. Naval Academy will be operating Mission Essential services only. Gate 1 will be closed to vehicle traffic. The VCC will be open from 0815 to 2000.
NSAA/USNA Operating Status Update for Monday, January 26, 2026: NSA Annapolis and U.S. Naval Academy will be operating Mission Essential services only for Monday, January 26th. Gate 1 will be closed to vehicle traffic. The VCC will be open from 0815 to 1800.
During the exercise, residents, commuters, and base personnel may notice increased security activity, training scenarios, or temporary changes to traffic and gate access. This is a planned exercise and not a real-world emergency.

Hot off the press! NSAA will join Naval stations across the region to participate in Citadel Shield–Solid Curtain 2026 from Jan. 26–Feb. 6. This annual force protection exercise ensures our security forces are trained and ready to respond to a wide range of potential threats.
Winter Weather Installation Impacts for Sunday 25JAN:
- NSAA will conduct mission essential services only (e.g., Security, Fire, Public Works)
- Commissary & Navy Exchange will be closed (NFCU is also closed on Sundays)
- Greenbury Point Public Access will be closed.

- Visitors who have already purchased tickets to tour USNA will still be authorized access.
- Visitors attending a USNA Sponsored Event such as a sporting event, summer camps, or Naval Academy Summer Seminar/STEM events will still be allowed to visit.
On Monday, June 16, 2025, the United States Naval Academy & NSA Annapolis will suspend General Public Visitation (GPV) for the day.
Regular GPV is expected to resume on Tuesday, June 17, 2025.
