The door plug that blew off the @AlaskaAir MAX 9 was removed for repair then reinstalled improperly by Boeing mechanics at the Renton assembly plant
That leaves Boeing primarily at fault for the accident rather than its supplier Spirit AeroSystems

The Alaska aircraft, N704AL, a brand new 737 Max 9, had been removed from flying ETOPS flights yesterday due to spurious pressurization warnings. https://t.co/I281heuuSS
NEW IMAGE from on board Alaska Airlines 1282 after ***part of the fuselage*** blew out mid-flight. Successful emergency return to Portland after 20 minutes in the air. 10-week-old (!) Boeing 737 Max 9. NTSB investigating.
Really glad that all of the Japan Airlines pax and crew seem to have survived the crash.
But I'm not surprised to hear that it was an orderly evacuation. JAL is able to board widebody aircraft in 10-15 mins as pax are so considerate.
Also JAL plays this every safety briefing:
We have NINETY SECONDS to evacuate an aircraft, 90. So when we ask you to put your seat back and tray tables in their full upright position, buckle your seatbelt and stow bags completely under the seats, it's for this type of situation. To get everyone off the airplane alive.
.@ABCWorldNews: "Tonight, a commercial airline pilot has been charged with pulling a gun on the captain right next to him in the cockpit mid-flight. Jonathan Dunn, indicted by a grand jury in Utah. Federal prosecutors say he threatened to shoot if the captain diverted their flight because of a potential medical issue involving a passenger. The airline and the flight have not been released. The co-pilot was allowed to carry that gun through a TSA program."
Where’d the wing go 🤷🏼♂️
My landing today from the lower deck onboard @British_Airways BA296 Airbus A380 from Chicago. A little choppy on short finals but what’s amazing, is how, just like in my previous video but from the upper deck, the outer wing section droops when the speed/lift bleeds off. That’s a crazy amount of flex. Watch how the upper wingtip fence almost disappears 😮
Amazing how the designers factor that in, all the flight surfaces still working efficiently with all that flex going-on. Wings built in Broughton at @AirbusintheUK 💪🏻
Call-outs added by me cos I’m a real geek 😂
Here I’ll make the NSTBs job easier: “loss of control resulting in impact with the terrain following departure of all control surfaces from the aircraft”
Expect it to come out in a month, two tops.
