Our Clarksville Falcons are spending their first week inside the new Clarksville campus building. While we settle into this new space, crews are working to complete additional features in the building. At the same time, a renovation of the original campus facility is underway.
Henry Whitty moved to Nashville with his wife in 2020. After attending college right out of high school but not finding the right fit, he never completed his studies. Whitty says he’s now found the right place.

Wrapping up the fall semester, Instructor Roger Foster's CIVT 1230: Soils and Foundations class showcased the building blocks of successful engineering projects, highlighting the vital role soil plays in every construction process.
Prof. Akther shared, “Education and research that integrate new technology and modern agricultural practices are very exciting. Chemistry plays a vital role in agriculture, and I am confident our students will see the connection between these fields through this visit.”
To help students explore career and educational pathways after graduation, Jesmin Akther, associate professor of chemistry in the School of STEM, regularly organizes visits to four-year institutions. Visits include Meharry Medical College and Vanderbilt University, among others.
Recently, Professor Akther and her organic chemistry students visited Tennessee State University’s College of Agriculture, where they met with Dr. De’Etra Young and colleagues.
Students in Assistant Professor Marian Soliman’s microbiology class rolled up their sleeves and built a DNA model and mastered the streak plate technique to isolate bacteria.
This partnership addresses the region’s growing demand for tech talent, with a focus on artificial intelligence and cloud computing skills.

Dr. Jesmin Akther, associate professor of chemistry, recently took her class on a visit to Meharry Medical College to meet with Dr. Jamaine Davis, assistant professor of biochemistry and cancer biology.
Dr. Akther's students had an opportunity to explore cutting-edge research and engage with Dr. Davis and his lab team—including Nashville State alum Anthony Ornelas ('22), a biochemistry graduate of Vanderbilt University ('24) who will be pursuing a PhD.
