These athletes are the standard in all that they do. They get it done in the weightroom, on the track, on recovery days, in the classroom, and by being a class act. I am incredibly privileged to coach these athletes every day.
All this to go with only ONE athlete all season in ISS, and that was for tardies. Only one athlete has missed competition due to having an F (and all grades are checked the day before meets). I never have to clean up trash at camps or off the bus.
Our top 7 ended up as Nate leading the way, SO Austin Lewis, JR Lucas Craven (CC rookie), FR Aiden Walsh, FR Robert Adams (rookie), FR Elliot Emery (rookie), and SO Karver Martin (rookie). I'm very proud of how hard the guys worked, bought in, and improved.
Season wrap up tweet: Senior @nate_hill4 capped off his record breaking season (school record 15:59.84) with an All State finish at the 2A championships. Missing our only other senior due to injury (and our #2 runner), the young team finished 6th
Some updates on the season we are having:
Sr. Lucas Steet moves into 5th in school history with a 16:58.
Sr. @nate_hill4 breaks our school record, running a 15:59.84 this past week.
Jr. Lucas Craven runs a PR of 18:36. He's a first time cross country athlete.
Fr. Aiden Walsh goes 18:42 - also a first time CC athlete and a PR by a little under a minute.
Fr. Robert Adams goes 19:22, a PR of over a minute.
So. Karver Martin goes 20:16 in his 3rd race of his life. His first race was a 27 min.
Fr. Elliot Emery PR's by 30 seconds, running a 21:35. He started the year at 25:50.
This group has improved across the board by massive lengths. They are really bringing cross country back to popularity in the school as well. Region championship on Monday. Go Cats
At the Hurricane Invitational at Wren, we had 8/10 runners set PR's, and two top 10 finishers. Last year we had 8 total male runners. Our 5th runner was a 22. This year, our 8th runner is a 22:10. And he was a 25 two weeks ago. Growing by leaps and bounds
Just like to point out as a freshman he ran an 11.1 twice, broke our freshman record in the 100 and 200, almost got the school record in both. 2nd leg on school record 4x1. School record in SMR and 4x200. Asked to be on the 4x400. He's only getting faster.
Forgot about my 1600 runner, Lucas Steet. He went 2:05 in the 4x8, 4:42 in the 1600, and 2:08 (easing up as he already had the spot secured for Upper) in the 800. He has demonstrated grit all year. All of us coaches are proud of the way these athletes buy in to what we sell.
For the boys, they repeat as Region Champs. They scored in 17/18 events and qualified 16/18 events. The 4x800 and 4x400 won. Neither relay has lost on the year. Nate Hill (Jr), Lucas Steet (Jr), Austin Lewis (Fr), and Adam White (Fr). Nate paced the group with a 1:58 4th leg
Continuing the class shown by last year's team, I still have yet to pick up trash from our camp, or off the bus. These athletes have bought into the class first, and the results are there. Our top speed, strength, and willpower have all made clear, measurable gains
