Reform really are descending into the gutter now. This is a total distortion of what Kemi Badenoch actually said. It’s another example of their increasingly desperate efforts to neutralise Restore.
Reform putting out an attack ad on Kemi Badenoch misquoting her over Henry Nowak’s tragic death is a deeply misguided, ugly and offensive move.
A young British man was murdered. He died cuffed and begging for his life, alone in the street.
To weaponise his death, so vindictively, in order to make a viciously deceitful graphic attacking a political opponent is low.
I am not in the same party as Kemi Badenoch. In fact, we are competing for votes in Makerfield. I disagree with her on a great many number of policies.
I would never manipulate the death of an innocent young man to score petty party political points, especially using such blatant lies.
It’s just not how we conduct ourselves in Britain.
Principles still matter, or at least they should.
This is wrong. It doesn't matter who you vote for, but Kemi Badenoch expressly stated that ALL lives matter and it shouldn't be about someone's race. This sort of "attack ad" isn't about facing up to important issues, it's just a lie.
Just when you think they can't sink any lower. Shameful.
"I don't want to hear about black lives matter, I don't want to hear about white lives matter, Everyone matters, Henry Nowak Matters."
^ her actual quote.
My thoughts on the horrific killing of Henry Nowak.
Henry was only 18 and had so much to live for, which was tragically taken away from him by Vickrum Digwa, who deserves to spend the rest of his life in prison.
May Henry rest in peace.
@strength39296 I stand by what I said about reform, who are deliberately distorting this for their own political gain.
That still doesn't mean I've once said we're the victims, which was your original comment.
The judge literally said the opposite in his ruling.
Deliberately misleading and distorting the picture for political gain, sadly it's what we've come to expect from the Reform cesspit.
Henry Nowak’s murderer will be out of prison in just over 20 years.
Why did he not get longer? Because the judge ruled that - as a Sikh - he had a “good legal reason” to carry a 21cm “Shastar” knife on the streets of Southampton.
This sentence is a joke. Two-tier justice at its worst. I will not let this lie.
@strength39296 Where on earth have I even said or implied that? I've pointed out his sentence was increased for the very reason jenrick lied it was reduced.
"We offer solidarity...we share our Ardas (prayers) as a community for them"
A statement from The Council of Southampton Gurdwaras has been released which illustrates local community sentiment around the tragic Henry Nowak murder case and the resulting fallout.
The judge literally said the opposite in his ruling.
Deliberately misleading and distorting the picture for political gain, sadly it's what we've come to expect from the Reform cesspit.
Henry Nowak’s murderer received a sentence of just 21 years, because the judge said due to his religion he had a “good legal reason” to carry a large dagger around in public.
TWO TIER JUSTICE
Reality: The judge used the fact that the Sikh kid was Sikh as an aggravating factor to extend his sentence: "you abused the privilege extended to Sikhs to have a knife in a public place for religious reasons, dishonoured your religion and have now put others at risk of repercussions."
The entire Sikh community has been "demonised" as one individual has broken the law and been found guilty of murder.
The murder weapon was NOT a Kirpan (one of the 5 Ks), it has a different name that does not start with K, but the @CPSUK is refusing to share an image of the murder weapon with @BBCNews@SkyNews@PA@thetimes etc. after the case concluded last Thursday.
It was incorrectly described as a Kirpan in court and media reporting. @Dabinderjit@SikhFedUK wrote to @ShabanaMahmood@LabourSJ@Nesil_Caliskan and hope Judge William Mousley KC makes this clear when sentencing on Monday or it will be a massive disservice to the Sikh community.
Sensible politicians like @DavidDavisMP@aliciakearns that have made the mistake of calling for restrictions on the Kirpan based on this misinformation should distance themselves from @RupertLowe10@RobertJenrick@ZiaYusufUK

Not sure how anyone could vote for a political party that spouts this kind of legally illiterate - and frankly, stupid - guff. Does anyone in the Liberal Democrats actually know what ‘the rule of law’ means? 🤪
I disagree with this on so many levels
Sikhs have fought alongside us and been an important part of British culture for TWO CENTURIES
The Kirpan is a ceremonial religious knife, because 1 moron used it to stab someone does not mean you should ban the Kirpan and demonise the other 99.9% of law abiding honourable Sikhs
Do you think the Kirpan and Sikhs in the UK are responsible for the ever increasing number of knife attacks? NO
Would you rather be surrounded by Sikhs with Kirpans or "roadmen" with knives from their mum's kitchens
I know which i'd choose every single time....
I hope this doesn't happen because its a real kick in the face to Sikhs across the UK
