On the last day of this legislative session, the Unicameral recognized Lt. Todd Kinghorn for his 33 years of service to Nebraska. Todd retires in December so today will be his last inside the Chamber protecting senators. Thanks sir for your service!
Today is Major Brenda Konfrst's last day with NSP. She is retiring after 32 plus years of service. Maj. Konfrst oversees Troop A in Omaha, Troop B in Norfolk, and the Capitol Security team as well. Lt. Todd Kinghorn was a campmate from the 1990 class. Thanks Major and enjoy!
Today Sgt. Ken Lonowski was awarded the Patrol’s Civilian Manager of the Year Award by Governor Ricketts. On hand to congratulate Ken was Col. Bolduc, Maj. Lewis and Capt. Rogers. Outstanding work Ken!
Today, we pause to remember Trooper Jerry Smith #373, who lost his life in the line of duty on June 20, 2019.
We remember his life of service and pledge never to forget his sacrifice.

It is with heavy hearts we report the loss of our colleague Tarn Davis #8337, who passed away earlier this week. Tarn has served the State of Nebraska in various roles for over 23 years and has been with Capitol Security since 2021. Rest easy Tarn, we have the shift now.
Last night the Capitol was adorned in blue tint for colorectal cancer awareness. Tonight a gold splash will be added to the blue displaying solidarity for Ukraine.
Trooper Moamal Ali #229 just received his badge of office. Ali previously served in @NSP_CapSec. He will begin his career serving in Kearney.

On the last day of Special Session we say goodbye to our friend and colleague, Chief Sergeant of Arms Doug Donscheski. Doug leaves state service after over 40 years with NDOT, NSP, and last few years at the Capitol. Thanks sir for your service and enjoy your retirement!
Today Lt. Kinghorn & Sgt. Lonowski raised the US flag for the first time at NSP’s new headquarters building in Lincoln. Teammates continue to move in from various locations across town. This new facility will enhance efficiency as many resources will be in one facility.

Last Friday afternoon an uninvited visitor flew into the Unicameral while senators were in session. After adjournment, Facility Maintence Manager Brett “Bird Whisperer” Daugherty was able to safely capture and harmlessly release the intruder.
During severe weather it is imperative everyone knows their plan for getting to sheltered areas. Yesterday state senators and staffers participated in a tornado drill in the Capitol. Thanks Fred Knapp for posting this video of the drill in action.
Happy to report “Cameron the Capitol Cat” returned late last night and visited with Capitol Security staff. Follow up phone call confirmed he is home with guardian safe and sound.
