Our paper describing the development of the FLINTS system, outlining the safety critical skills for #farmers, and providing a support and assessment tool, is now out in the journal of Agromedicine: https://t.co/QwcrYKs0YP
See below thread for details on each of the speakers and topics for our upcoming online #humanfactors and #appliedpsychology research symposium on Tuesday 18th April. Tickets are free and can be booked here: https://t.co/g5AOtbFK4d open to all :-)
Given the dangers associated with #farm vehicles, and the HSE recent campaign, seems timely to remind folks of our #situationawareness checklist, emphasising the importance of sharing info, #planning ahead and checking your surroundings: https://t.co/dNFiNOCP4j free to download
The webinars by Ilinca (situation awareness in farming and forestry contexts) and Sofia (fatigue in forestry) will likely be of interest to anyone with a passion for #safety and #humanfactors in #farming and #forestry
To make attending our research webinars even easier this year we have created an eventbrite page: https://t.co/Fg8Hx6ldUK signing up for a free ticket gives you access to all six webinar links :-) you can access each link, with date and time details, via the online event page.
A big area of our research has been devoted to applying #nontechnicalskills to #agriculture. One of our key papers in this area investigated the #situationawareness requirements, potential lapses, and factors leading to lapses with #tractor drivers.
We are now starting to expand out research into #forestry via a collaboration with Forestry Land Scotland and a new collaborative PhD project due to begin in September, read more here: https://t.co/MZoXWFlBx1

@HoweTess Absolutely - monitoring staff includes spotting signs of stress / fatigue, ensuring staff are managing tasks ok (e.g. do they need a hand) and maintaining oversight of worker locations and progress (e.g. has someone dropped out of contact). https://t.co/I9EPe22EeK
So why should #farmers be interested in #NonTechnicalSkills?
1. There are decades of research showing that these skills are vital in high risk industries, so much so that training in these skills is compulsory in some areas (e.g. aviation).
