No relation with reservations, I was answering the original comment by Mr. Dhruv saying that Dalits have to become priests in temples and Brahmins should accept sewage cleaner jobs as a prerequisite for reservations to be abolished. My whole point is that the original ask by Mr. Dhruv has nothing to do with reservations.

I get his point of view that Brahmins were privileged and they have to give up their privilege before asking about abolishing reservations. My point is the privilege that is being assumed that Brahmins have is not valid, there is no such special privilege in today’s education system nor in the past. Constantly bringing priestly duties into discussions and depriving GC students who aren’t competing for non-priestly jobs doesn’t make sense.
Let’s compare How many Dalits want to be priests who aren’t being allowed to be priests just because of birth vs how many Brahmins are being denied normal education and jobs because of ridiculously high cut offs for GC candidates. Then we can see if these logics can be related to reservations. Else the base of the logic is pointless.

A candidate got a seat in PG orthopedics after scoring 1/800, and most probably a very qualified GC candidate might have lost that same seat for tha same 1 mark being less than their ridiculously high cut off. How is this aunty ji’s mindset a valid reason for that candidate losing their seat and how is this a valid reason for a candidate to get a seat after scoring 1/800?

Abolishing reservation is 100% not possible and not correct also, but is a revision in the way it is implemented, is it possible? Can all categories have a decent cut off? Can the application fee and college/hostel fee be dependent only on economic status and nothing else? Can GC have strict 50% seats only for them? Can reserved candidates who score beyond the GC cutoff not eat into GC seats and leave them for GC students? Can reservations be limited to only once or twice per life time instead of a life time ticket? You get a reserved seat for bachelors admission, masters, possibly PhD, govt job, promotion. Everywhere is things are reserved what incentive will the candidate have to bring their best game to the table?
Can we have a discussion/audit on whether the intended benefits of this policy are reaching the exact people they’re supposed reach and not highjacked by undeserving candidates? Is there an audit of the resources being accessed by people who had the facility of reservation? Do they still need it or can the seat be released for GCs?
Are these valid questions? Or are these also weak before the question of an old lady who might not have the outlook of the world that a 23 year old old UPSC GC aspirant from a very economically weak background have? Why should that guy pay the price with his life for the outlook of this lady?

1) there are many temples already where non-Brahmins are priests. There are many aagamas written for those temples mentioning that Brahmins CANNOT be the priests there. Being a priest in a temple isn’t a normal job, the temple rules are governed by aagama saastras not public emotion. So no, the aagama saastra of the temple cannot be tampered with plus it has nothing to do with reservation in normal education-unnecessary point brought in to divert the discussion

2) Marriage is an extremely personal topic, marriage has to be decided by the people getting married and their families not political discourses or some leader of a group. Pointless logic - unnecessary point brought in to divert discussion

3) Surnames are family names, having a particular surname does not give anyone extra privilege in an exam like IIT/NEET/UPSC but having a reservation does so people who’re getting disadvantaged by the reservation have not benefit if I or anyone decide to drop my surname. Pointless logic

4) Caste pride is different from looking down upon other castes, plus the scenario when reservations were introduced was different, the caste pride literally stopped many people access to education so this might have made sense then, now even if I have pride in my caste, I can’t stop others from access to good resources, if I do I can be thrown into jail, so again pointless logic.

5, 6) I think there are enough laws and good enough education in India to make sure such “superior” talk doesn’t happen, if it’s happening then the perpetrator has to be punished. If the law isn’t getting implemented then the need of the hour is good administrators but not more reservation. Again pointless logic built just to divert the discussion.

All the points show one thing, you didn’t understand the need of this ask. In 1947, Indian society was divided and there was a need for this, now the situation changed. not entirely but there is definitely a change is there, that change isn’t being taken into consideration and the reservation facility is being increased more and more and GC students are being disadvantaged. The ask is revise the reservation system and make sure nobody is disadvantaged, not abolish blindly in shot, I know many many GC, Brahmin students and elders who strongly support the need of reservations, I’m one of them but that doesn’t mean we are disadvantaged so much that leaving the country is the only option left for us.

Neither the director/writer of the movie nor you know the meaning of Janeu. You create your own logic and write dialogues and clap for your own stupidity. I have to be clear here for my own safety I’m not saying all Dalits are stupid just calling this particular act of director/writer and the handle owner stupid, (else their fragile egos will get hurt and I’ll face unnecessary trouble).
Just think for a second. Janeu is put inside shirt or generally uttariyam is put over it, how will anyone know if it’s there or not? If the symbol of superiority isn’t it overtly displayed? then how is it even a symbol of superiority? I’m talking about normal Brahmins not your own imaginary creations, normally we don’t go around showing our Janeus, we’re explicitly taught to hide it unless in poojas where we need to be shirtless. Clear instructions are given to us by our gurus and parents not to flaunt it or display it. It is treated sacred and a symbol of Godess Gayatri/Savitri and a symbol that the person has been initiated into mantra sadhana (there are much more deeper meanings but this isn’t the place for all that) not a symbol of superiority.

BTW Janeu isn’t exclusive to Brahmins, there was once a time every person used to have janeus, I emphasize, EVERY person, in time due to various reasons only a few families kept it and others didn’t. Even today many non-Brahmin families have the ceremony of upanayana and have janeu
