In this week's PERS budget discussions, Democrat leadership pointed out that the situation could have been alleviated had Governor Lombardo approved AB498 in the last legislative session, aiming to reduce the employees' contribution rates. 3/
Her team has engaged w/ PERS leadership staff to explore and propose alternative policy measures to mitigate the impact on employees. Finally, although the Legislature has the power to override the Governor's veto of AB498, currently, there is insufficient support to do so. 5/
