Capability is built by people. Behind every system is a team of engineers, technicians, designers, and operators committed to advancing Canadian innovation.
Our Tactical Launcher and CM-70 counter-UAS interceptor represent that commitment — one design, one test, and one milestone at a time.
@CSG_global@CSG_global's manufacturing depth and commercial network across NATO and partner nations are exactly what NVD needs to get CM-70 into the field faster. Looking forward to building this together!
@CSG_global, a leading European industrial and defence group, is now a strategic investor in North Vector Dynamics.
NVD launched in 2022 to build advanced air defence technologies for Canada and its allies. Precision interception, autonomy, advanced propulsion, from counter-drone systems through to hypersonics.
Our first product is CM-70, a precision-guided interceptor missile designed to restore the cost equation in modern air defence. ITAR-free, with an open architecture that works with the systems allies already field.
CSG exports to more than 70 countries and employs over 14,000 people, with manufacturing depth, systems integration expertise, and a global commercial network behind them.
Canada's 18th Chief of the Defence Staff has joined North Vector Dynamics as Strategic Advisor.
General (Ret'd) Tom Lawson will advise NVD’s leadership on Canadian and allied operational requirements, interoperability, and the development of sovereign Canadian defence capability. He will serve in a personal, civilian and non-executive capacity.
Prior to serving as CDS, Lawson's senior appointments included Deputy Commander of the Royal Canadian Air Force (@RCAF_ARC) and Deputy Commander of North American Aerospace Defense Command (@NORADCommand). As the senior military commander of the Canadian Armed Forces (@CanadianForces), he also oversaw the deployment of Canadian troops to Eastern Europe as part of NATO's response to Russian aggression in Crimea.
“General Lawson has set requirements at the NATO and national levels and knows how much rides on industry reading them correctly. That perspective sharpens our decisions on NVD's CM-70 counter-UAS interceptor and the systems that follow it.” - Dr. Paul Ziadé (@ziade_paul), Co-Founder and CEO.

We are proud to welcome @Nord_Space Ventures as a strategic investor in North Vector Dynamics! This investment deepens an active technical partnership that advances rocket propulsion and hypersonic technologies. Excited to build sovereign missile capability with Rahul Goel and the NordSpace team 🇨🇦 🚀
Today we're announcing that NordSpace Ventures, our strategic investment arm, has invested in North Vector Dynamics (@NV_Dynamics), the Calgary-based defence technology company building Canada's first full-spectrum sovereign missile capability. NVD joins @WyvernSpace in our portfolio, the Alberta-based commercial hyperspectral imaging company. NordSpace Ventures continues to focus its capital on mission-aligned Canadian-owned companies whose technologies advance sovereign space, defence, and dual-use capabilities aligned with Canada's Defence Industrial Strategy and NordSpace's own technology and business objectives.
Headquartered in Calgary, NVD is Canadian-owned and controlled, co-founded by aerospace engineers from the University of Calgary's Schulich School of Engineering and led by CEO Paul Ziadé alongside a team drawn from academia, NASA, and the Canadian Armed Forces. Its initial commercial product is a lower-cost, precision-guided counter-drone missile interceptor. At the other end of the capability spectrum, NVD is developing hypersonic missiles for Canada and its allies with support from the Department of National Defence.
Beyond capital, this deepens an active technical partnership across two areas of shared strategic interest:
🔹 Defence application of our rocket propulsion technology. Our Hadfield-150 engine line (patent-pending, designed and manufactured end-to-end in Canada) was developed for Tundra and Tundra+. The same propulsion, manufacturing, and testing capabilities that underpin sovereign orbital launch have direct relevance to Canadian precision defence systems.
🔹 Advancing Canadian hypersonic R&D. NordSpace and NVD are both key members of a hypersonic innovation network led by the University of Calgary and funded by DND's Innovation for Defence Excellence and Security (IDEaS) program. Members will collaborate to build sovereign Canadian expertise across propulsion, flight dynamics, GNC, detection, and materials for hypersonic vehicles. Directly supporting Canada's priorities under NORAD modernization and the Defence Industrial Strategy.
This work complements our SHARP program (Supersonic and Hypersonic Applications Research Platform). Over the coming years, we intend to apply advances from our collaborative research and joint work with Defence Research and Development Canada into our orbital-class propulsion roadmap.
North Vector Dynamics is exactly the kind of company Canada needs more of. Canadian-owned, ITAR-free, technically world-class, and building sovereign hardware for the threats that actually matter.
That is exactly what NordSpace Ventures was built to do: back Canadian companies whose success advances Canada's sovereign defence and space capabilities in parallel.

This July 1st, we're not just celebrating what it means to be Canadian, but what it means to build Canadian. Around the world, Canada and its allies and partners face growing threats from unmanned aerial systems.
Enter NVD's CM-70 SPEAR: a low-cost, precision-guided missile designed specifically to address drone threats. In our most recent test, the CM-70 took another successful step, moving closer to delivering next-generation Canadian-made defence technology.
Happy Canada Day from all of us at NVD! 🇨🇦
Last month, our CEO, @ziade_paul, spoke at the House of Commons Standing Committee on National Defence.
"If Canadians are [going] to get on board in the long-term, we need to spend more money in defence so they can see the economic benefits come back to them. And that, in the 21st century, is through IP ownership; it is not just solely through job creation."
