Cucumber mosaic virus was first discovered in 1934 on cucumber showing mosaic symptoms.
It has the widest host range among plant viruses and has been found to infect cowpea, curcubits, vegetables, cowpea, ornamentals, weeds etc.
Aphids are the major vector of the virus

The theme of 2019 conference was PLANT VIROLOGY FOR FOOD SECURITY and it was formally declared opened by IITA DDG-Research
