We’ve had a busy week! As well as our whole school wildflower seedball throwing on Tuesday, yesterday we spent some more time clearing the planters, litter picking and checking on the tree saplings. We also saw lots of bees, butterflies, ladybirds and earwigs! 🐝🦋🐞🌳

On Tuesday we had a whole school seedball throwing event, with the aim to create a wildflower meadow around our school field and we loved it! 🌻🌺🌷🪻🌼

Today we chose our new Book of the Month, ‘Water’ by @catherine_barr and @Ch_Engel 📖
We also spent some time working on the planters ☀️🌳

Thank you to everyone who came to see us at our first Planet Protectors stall at the school Summer Fayre today. We raised £26 which will be going to Cleethorpes Wildlife Rescue. Thanks also to CWR and Josh (Cleethorpes Coastal Ranger) and Zoë for also joining us 🦆🦊🌳🌍

We had a very special visitor this afternoon. The Canoe River Cleaner himself came in to talk to us about how him and his team (Freshney Comrades) keep our River Freshney clean and how it benefits the wildlife in our area. It was a very interesting and inspiring talk 👏🚣🦢🦦

We’ve been busy! We chose a new ‘Book of the Month’ (Our Planet by David Attenborough), we received our Gold Award from The Woodland Trust, we calculated that 189 wrappers were saved during our recent ‘Nothing In A Wrapper’ day and we did some weeding on the plants 🌳🌍♻️

Wednesday 2nd April will be our Nothing In A Wrapper Day. Can you bring in at least one less item in a wrapper for your snack/dinner? Last year, we saved 127 wrappers from being used and thrown away. Can you help us to beat that this year? ♻️🌍🍎🍌🍊

We are displaying our certificates for completing the @RSPBEngland ‘Big School Birdwatch’, which also lead to us becoming a ‘School For Nature’. We also earned the ‘Sustainability Pioneer School’ title for a recent sustainability and climate audit 🐦‍⬛🦉🪿

This afternoon we enjoyed some time outside, putting bamboo canes with orange ribbons on next to our tree saplings. Hopefully they will be easy to see and will be better protected 🌳🌲
