Skin cancer is the most common cancer in the U.S. Let’s change that with sun-safe habits!
Protect yourself and those you love by reminding them that today (and every day)
There is no such thing as a “healthy” tan. Cover up, seek shade, and wear sunscreen. #DontFryDay
The National Council on Skin Cancer Prevention has designated the Friday before Memorial Day as “Don’t Fry Day” to encourage everyone to sun safely as they head outdoors. Protect yourself and those you love by wearing your sunscreen every day!
#DontFryDay
Children, the elderly, and those with chronic illness are especially vulnerable to heat exposure.
NEVER leave anyone (or pets) alone in a locked car.
Monitor people exercising or playing sports.
Bring water to outdoor activities with others to keep everyone hydrated.
Never, never, never leave children, disabled or elderly adults, or pets in parked, unattended vehicles! Studies have shown that the temperature inside a parked vehicle can rapidly rise to dangerous levels for people and pets. https://t.co/ieT3JSsvcf
Everyone is at risk from the dangers of extreme heat, but these groups are more vulnerable than most. Ensure that your loved ones and neighbors are safe from the heat and remain Weather-Ready. Are you ready for the heat?

Know the ways to protect yourself from the heat:
Drink plenty of water and avoid alcohol. Beverages with electrolytes can help protect against heat stress.
Apply sunscreen (SPF 30 or higher) every two hours.
Wear lightweight, loose-fitting, and light-colored clothing.
#HeatSafety
An Extreme Heat Watch is issued when conditions are favorable for an extreme heat event but its occurrence and timing is still uncertain.
An Extreme Heat Warning is issued when extremely dangerous heat conditions are expected or occurring. Avoid outdoor activities.
#HeatSafety
During hot and humid weather, your body's ability to cool itself is challenged in ways you may not expect. When your body heats too rapidly, or when too much fluid or salt is lost through dehydration or sweating, you may experience a heat-related illness.
