Were you in or near a tornado recently?
If so we'd love to have participate in a quick survey. The info you provide could help researchers and forecasters improve the information we provide before and during severe weather. Here's the survey link: https://t.co/u8X1DBWkSs
Our CIWRO Summer Student Colloquium is in full swing this week. Tuesday is Radar Day with lots to learn at the Radar Innovations Laboratory. Back at the National Weather Center, the students took a break to chill with Leilani the therapy dog.
A lot of us will be outdoors a lot this Memorial Day Weekend, so remember: Thunderstorms can produce deadly lightning strikes up to 10 miles away. When Thunder Roars, Go Indoors! https://t.co/KCtcJO1NSz
With outdoor activities going on tonight, how long do we have until we see storms? Aside from a low chance for pop-up storms (5-10% chance), we should remain clear through at least 7pm (west OK/west north TX) to 10pm (central OK) before tonight's line comes through. #okwx
Drought is expected to persist through the climatological summer despite any short-term relief we receive through May. Say it ain't so! More deets in today's Ticker. https://t.co/S0zmtLHmwU #okwx#okmesonet

Today, one of our meteorologists is retiring after 31 years of federal service. Since March of 1999, Bruce has been at NWS Norman, after a start in San Antonio. Lots of weather and forecasts behind him, but now a well deserved retirement awaits him. Well done, Bruce.
Help the NWS — become a CoCoRaHS volunteer!
The only requirements are an enthusiasm for watching and reporting weather conditions and a desire to learn more about how weather can affect and impact our lives.
And if you join in April, you’ll be a part of Rain Gauge Rally month, an annual contest to see which state can recruit the most new volunteers!
