Using open data to gauge street cleanliness has its challenges. Population density and visibility affect what we see in sources like 311 requests and OATH violations. For commercial-related issues, outer boroughs see more violations, while central Manhattan has more complaints.
1% of litter baskets account for 50% of all 311 complaints! These problem baskets could be addressed by @CMBobHoldenNYC 's bill seeking for ALL public receptacles to be emptied daily. Listen in at today's sanitation oversight hearing! ♻️

COVID unevenly affected women of color. Agencies with large women/POC staff, like DHS & HRA/DSS saw big reductions in headcount. Meanwhile, NYPD, DSNY & DOT, agencies with mostly men & white staff, remained stable.
@CMNantashaW questioned DCAS on this at today's hearing.
@NYCDCAS@NYCCouncil@CarmenForNYC@CMCrystalHudson@CMKevinCRiley For every dollar white male employees earn, all other workers earn 81.5 cents. Women of color account for 55% of this nearly 18.5 cents-on-the-dollar pay gap.
