I am so proud of @NYCMayor and all the work we’ve done together with New Yorkers over the past 8 years. It was an amazing adventure in what is truly the greatest city in the world! I love you Bill!
Habari Gani? Kuumba stands for creativity, and asks us to leave our mark by improving our communities and neighborhoods. New York City is full of people dedicated to finding creative ways to improve it every day, and that’s what makes it the greatest city in the world. #Kwanzaa
We set out on a mission 8 years ago to respond to New Yorkers' intense desire for more mental health support. You could feel the relief they experienced sharing their stories, and knowing that there's easy access to services and information in one place: https://t.co/6ioU5I5JYS
"Calling NYC Well allowed for me to process my emotions, to address my fears... Exploring that as opposed to being fearful of my emotions and running to the psych ward." — Zisa
Reaching out for help can be empowering—especially in a crisis.
This is the powerful story of Brown Memorial Baptist Church, a Brooklyn community that lost almost 20 people during the height of the pandemic. They persevered, turning pain into purpose to make sure families had food to eat, and know they're loved and cared for.
What I loved most about the program we piloted at @cmomNYC was seeing families of incarcerated women unite outside of the jail environment. This time spent together playing and doing art is a necessity for the mental health of the entire family, including children's caregivers.
In New York City, families matter to us. One of my favorite initiatives from the last 8 years was the Baby Shower series where we brought together some of our city’s best resources for new and expecting parents right in the neighborhoods they live in.
Unity Works is a program making history! It’s the first time any city has taken comprehensive steps to provide LGBTQ young people with what they need for stability as they enter adulthood: food, clothing, support in school, physical and mental health care, and much more.
For eight years it has been my honor to lead this heroic city. As my term comes to an end, I’ve come to love our city and my fellow New Yorkers even more. https://t.co/vBJx4rJpn2
One of the many most memorable moments from the last 8 years was announcing that the city would purchase 227 Duffield Street! It warms my heart to know that the heroic stories of those who risked everything by helping people fleeing enslavement, will be protected and celebrated.
If our city is to heal, we must continue to pull the bandages off the ugly truths of our own history. More time needs to be spent learning about New York City's role in the slave trade, and understanding the risks abolitionists took here as part of the Underground Railroad.
Being the First Lady of New York City has been the greatest honor of my life, and I am most grateful to the incredible New Yorkers I met and worked with along the way.

SEL is a proven educational approach used in schools nationwide, including @NYCSchools. Students learn to identify their emotions, manage feelings, build relationships, and resolve conflicts—skills that improve behavior and academic success and can be used in every area of life.
Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg refused to back down from what she believed in, and she did it like only a Brooklynite can: Tough on the outside, but filled with compassion. One of my favorite moments in the last few years was renaming the Brooklyn Municipal Building in her honor.
New York City is so much richer with the invaluable contributions of women of all ethnicities and those outside the gender binary. #SheBuiltNYC was just the first step on a long path to ensure New York’s public landmarks better reflect the city’s population and history.
