The June 3 state court proceeding in the Luigi Mangione case in New York was sealed at the defense's request.
The only public development to emerge was an update to the calendar of upcoming hearings, across both the state and federal proceedings.
In this new article for @LaVocediNewYork I take a closer look at those dates and what they may tell us about the next phase of the case.

Defense attorneys for Luigi Mangione are fighting prosecutors over proposed jury questions, arguing they need to know potential jurors’ backgrounds-including ties to UnitedHealthcare, law enforcement views, children, religion, and even what crime TV shows they watch, to properly exercise jury strikes.
The filing also accuses former AG Pam Bondi of violating local rules on prejudicial pretrial publicity, claiming the defense now needs to assess the damage caused.

New federal filing in the Luigi Mangione case.
Defense attorneys Karen Friedman Agnifilo, Marc Agnifilo and Jacob Kaplan are asking Judge Margaret Garnett to preserve broader jury questionnaire topics, arguing that this case has already been shaped by months of publicity long before a jury is seated.
The defense wants potential jurors questioned about religion, family structure, media consumption, experiences with the criminal justice system, law enforcement, firearms, and possible ties to UnitedHealthcare.
The filing argues that someone working for UHC, owning UHC stock, or carrying strong views shaped by prior experiences with police or prosecutors may already enter the courtroom with opinions that matter in this case.
It also returns directly to the issue of prejudicial pre-trial publicity.
“The former Attorney General violated this Court’s local rule concerning prejudicial pre-trial publicity. Getting to the bottom of the damage she has caused is critical.”
