#NZGIF is on a mission to accelerate investment that supports New Zealand's decarbonisation. We show what is possible when capital is coupled with purpose.
NZGIF has made a $2.5m equity investment in Ruminant BioTech, an innovative agri-tech company developing a sustained release methane inhibitor for livestock which could achieve significant methane reductions. https://t.co/m5ny1346g2 #nzgif#greeninvestment
A climate investment initiative of this sort has long been @NZGreens commitment.
Nine years ago, we promised to create a climate investment fund - and as part of the Govt we have delivered it.
Back then we promised $120m. Now, after today's announcement, funding has hit $700m.
Since we created it, New Zealand Green Investment Finance has been a major player in financing and incentivising climate solutions.
Projects like EV charging infrastructure, solar power in schools, and electrifying public transport.
Today I'm very excited to announce a significant boost to investment in climate solutions - and it's paid for by polluters!
New Zealand Green Investment Finance will be provided with an additional $300m to invest in projects that cut emissions and create jobs.
This is a major boost for NZGIF and will enable us to continue our work to accelerate investment in #emissionsreductions in New Zealand. #nzgif#Budget2023 https://t.co/9mS4iQlp99
BREAKING: In a #Budget2023 pre-budget announcement made today by Minister for Climate Change @jamespeshaw , New Zealand Green Investment Finance (NZGIF) will receive an additional $300 million in investment capital.
This significant capital injection from the Climate Emergency Response Fund will increase our total pool of investment capital to $700 million, making us one of the largest direct investors in New Zealand focused on climate change. #Budget2023#nzgif
