Our CRISiSLab Webinar will present “Earthquake Early Warning in China and Beyond”.
Due to language and cultural barriers, it was not easy to know what was happening in China. Let’s take this opportunity to hear first-hand information about the development of EEW in China.
This afternoon at 4:15 pm (NZT), psychosocial psychologist and our Lecturer @LJVinnell Lauren Vinnell will be interviewed on LIVE by RNZ The Panel to share more detailed insights on this.

Feeling for those communities up north bracing for potential back-to-back-to-back heavy rain events, it's a truly awful situation. Hopefully they know what they need to do to get through short-term, look after each other, and then receive the support they need to recover
For two countries shared some similarities in cultural diversity, we want to work with the people for people in disasters. Great to have this opportunity to acknowledge past collaborations and look forward to more on social and technological levels in the future. A pleasure!
The devastation caused by Cyclone Gabrielle is a stark reminder of the worsening impacts of climate change. New Zealand’s @NZJCDR and @Interior’s @USGS teams are working together to develop the best science to inform our emergency preparations, response, and recovery.
The Nuclear War Hazard Profile Workshop was hosted at JCDR yesterday. The workshop is part of the Aotearoa New Zealand Catastrophe Resilience Project led by @DR_PayneO (Adapt Research Ltd/JCDR), Dr Matt Boyd (Adapt Research Ltd), and Prof. Nick Wilson (University of Otago).
The project aims to understand the impact major global catastrophes (nuclear war, extreme pandemics, and supervolcanic eruptions, etc) might have on Aotearoa NZ, and to deduce adaptive strategies that might mitigate these effects, ensuring a continuous flourishing humanity.

Associate Professor Raj Prasanna: "It was great to meet the New Zealand high commissioner to Sri Lanka and the deputy high commissioner. Grateful for their continuous support towards identifying and enhancing potential research and education collaboration between both countries."
Met Raj Prasanna, Senior Lecturer @MasseyUni, this afternoon to hear about his efforts to boost collaboration between 🇳🇿 & 🇱🇰 on the provision of emergency management education.
I also talked to him and his family about 🇳🇿’s 🇱🇰 community.
It was great to be at the final demonstration day of the CRISiSLab Challenge 2022 - we loved seeing students from Te Whanganui-a-Tara/Wellington high schools present their early earthquake warning systems using Raspberry Shake seismometers. @NZJCDR@MasseyUni@EQCNZ@raspishake
We're at the final demonstration day of the CRISiSLab Challenge 2022 @NZJCDR@MasseyUni where 4 high school teams from around Te Whanganui-a-Tara present their work on early earthquake warnings using Raspberry Shake seismometers. Can't wait to see what they've been up to! @EQCNZ
We’re excited to fund new research into the gap between earthquake early warning systems and how they are used by the communities they are trying to protect. Led by @MasseyUni, the research received global plaudits after being published in @FrontiersIn. https://t.co/GxQEm9WtXQ
