An aircraft experienced an engineering issue as it was preparing for departure this morning. Airport emergency services were called as a precaution and have now been stood down. The plane is returning to the gate and will be disembarked. No further updates to come.

Virgin Australia flight VA148 departed Queenstown Airport at 5.50pm, bound for Melbourne. It experienced an issue just after take-off and has been diverted to Invercargill Airport. We will provide further updates as information becomes available.
@Karina_Vacc We do understand that space is limited until the new venue is completed but unfortunately, the delays are out of our control. The structure was scheduled to be delivered in February but the impacts faced by the shipping industry currently, caused the delay.
@Karina_Vacc Hi Karina, the new seating area outside has faced shipping delays but a fully enclosed structure is on its way which will include heating. We had some amazing days last week when people were enjoying the new space.

Our airport emergency service team performed a water salute today to welcome the latest addition to Glenorchy Air's fleet – a 2020 Daher Kodiak 100 turboprop. The aircraft can carry nine passengers, all with window seats, and its engine can run on sustainable aviation fuel.

@twlstlngtullp Hi Daisy, you're mistaken. The correct security procedures were followed to ensure the safety of our staff and the public. The NZDF cleared the security risk and the airport was able to safely reopen.
