In poor weather it dragged anchors and grounded on Carters Beach nr Westport on night of 31 August 2024.

New TAIC #marinesafety inquiry. Fishing vessel Chokyo Maru No. 68 ran aground near The Noises islands in the Hauraki Gulf with 27 crew on board. The vessel was re-floated and towed to Auckland without further incident. Nobody was injured.
