A council is not a business. It is not an investment fund. It is not a vehicle for bureaucrats to build careers and empires on the back of forced taxation.

It is a service provider. Nothing more.

Roads that work. Water that is clean. Parks that are maintained. Waste that is collected. Libraries that are open. Infrastructure that holds a city together. Do those things well. Do them efficiently. Do them at the lowest possible cost to the people funding it.

Then stop.

You do not get to expand into commercial enterprises. You do not get to own airports and power companies and venues and development companies. You do not get to borrow billions and send the bill to homeowners who had no say in the matter.

The money you spend is not yours. It was never yours. It was taken from productive people under threat of losing their home. That is not a small thing. That is an enormous responsibility and it should be treated like one.

A lean council. A focused council. A council that knows its lane and stays in it.

Hire fewer consultants. Run fewer committees. Build less bureaucracy. Collect the rubbish. Fix the roads. Keep the parks green.

That is the job.

Free people living in a free city do not need a council trying to run their lives and their economy. They need one that stays out of the way and does the basics brilliantly.

Nothing more. Nothing less.
