Flower sellers have been trading at the Trafalgar Flower Market for more than 150 years. But now the City of Cape Town wants to introduce a monthly permit-based system, where they will start charging them for trading there, something that has never been done before.

This will push traders out because they won't be able to pay the monthly permit fee. In March, the traders delivered a petition to the Sun Council and are still awaiting a response.
