Good Morning
Why is the Hon Attorney General Madam Dorcas Oduor SC not going to court to stop the publication and dissemination of these blasphemous and treasonous cartoons? Freedom of speech and expression doesn't entail a "right to abuse/scandalous". I think the Government of Kenya has a prima facie case to stop these cartoons...@NelsonHavi@AbdikadirMohami@Paul_Muite@WehliyeMohamed
Ruto’s attempt to restrict public demonstrations on the streets has only driven us to embrace alternative methods of expression. We’ve adopted what is both creative and constitutionally protected: satirizing the behaviors and symbols of oppression.
Cartooning the powerful is not, and cannot be, treason, blasphemy, nor an abuse of freedom of expression; it is, in fact, a testament to the strength of a democratic society. The law is clear—our constitution defends freedom of expression and, as courts worldwide affirm, satire is essential in holding public officials accountable. Yet, hypocrites, Ruto’s puppets, seem eager to test these principles, presenting weak, arguably baseless claims that fail to even establish a prima facie case for silencing us.
In reality, this idea to censor is proof of how deeply satire cuts; if it didn’t hit the mark, there would be no reaction. The revolution, however, is not so easily contained. As history shows, the oppressed will find new forms of resistance, evolving as necessary. In one of its many forms, this revolution will press on—unbowed, undeterred, and, yes, unsilenced—until justice prevails. If Ruto and his regime don’t change, they will have to go !!!
