they couldn’t make criston’s death humiliating even if they tried. despite being good fighters, the rivermen/northmen denied an exhausted knight’s 2v1 challenge by quieting him down w arrows. now criston will be immortalized through songs, exactly what they didn’t want to happen.
Ormund is unfortunately me in this medieval-ish setting, because I too have extreme sensory sensitivities and would pass out/get violently ill when I had to be around people who had not washed for weeks. #HOTD
The absolute tragedy of his last moments being him clinging to someone he loved and idealised, while she, being highborn, isn’t thinking about him at all now. There’s something deeply sincere about Criston as a character which was a masterstroke in this portrayal.
@Hornsounderr@aryasmercy Gods please no! Not me being relieved that there was no head-on-spike/corpse-desecration only for them to go around and do this....
the memory of criston cole not only lives on in this hearts and minds of the people but also in his reincarnation his son jaime cristonson jaime lannister to some
the only reason daemon believes he can jerk around ulf is because he views himself as inherently superior to him. humiliating him repeatedly in private and in public because he thinks ulf should be a slave to the cause, while he merely asks for some autonomy, some respect
is it not strange that ormund is a rampant misogynist, says the craziest shit about rhaenyra, is obviously homophobic toward gwayne, and yet because he's loud and unapologetic about it there's not even a margin of the hate he gets despite being a "green" that criston cole gets
lord commander criston cole you were a hand that was steel and you will forever be immortalized in the white book as one of the best and the worst the most skilled knights in westeros arianne martell remembers you jaime lannister is in love with you, you are the kingmaker
@fairysisle it was very moving for me how his last few men continued fighting with him. he saved a few and he was saved by some. the redshirt watching his commander be unceremoniously massacred and bracing for the impact of hundreds of men rushing them. it was very sad
heart wrenching strings playing over criston’s last stand while the audience pounds their chests and cheers because nobody in the northern army was brave enough to actually fight him, i genuinely resent sharing a fandom with these people
