@AndrewH81483877@MontereyMichael@JayneReesBuxton And...the continued use of GWP 100 will mean that CO2eq emissions from methane will go up even as tonnes of methane emitted go down. No way to outrun it.
@cutlerstom@herdyshepherd1 Sadly we won’t though. A lot of genetic diversity will have been irrevocably lost. It will take many decades of breeding to rebuild herds. And many stock skills will have been lost. Banning meat is not a step that is simple to undo.
@eoin_murchu Evidence for SF support of farmers is very lacking. They won’t do anything to help correct numbers or narrative even though they know they aren’t accurate.
With over 1,600 people living with epilepsy in Tipperary, @epilepsyireland have been in touch about some of the key issues that they are seeking to progress. If elected in #GE2024, I will work with EI to advance these issues within the 34th Dáil.
We know what our vote means to us but it maybe means something different to the politicians who get that vote. Is there any such thing as a 'mandate' for the main political parties? And would they follow it if there were? https://t.co/aLZmHoyVxq
The topic of abortion, while not top of mind for everyone in this election cycle, is one that I think all candidates need to be transparent about so here's my position on the topic: https://t.co/MIzJnq4Mkm
@EwanMacKenna I think I understand what you’re asking (I hope!). The quick answer is yes but there’s a lot of presumption and bias brought to bear in virtually all rape cases that makes them exceptionally difficult to adjudicate well tbh.
Micheál Martin says he wants the first go as Taoiseach if the rotating role is repeated, stating that he has a 'hunch' the next government will be a three-party coalition again.

@jeromekurtiss@JS_9495@thejournal_ie I completely hear you and you are correct in that it is simply an administrative element. But that administrative element has huge impacts across a variety of life aspects and can't really be dismissed as not mattering?
@danielmloftus Hi Daniel, apologies, I'm not sure if the contact details are up on the II page yet but my website is https://t.co/rH7Phb4PbI and please do email [email protected] - that's a huge undertaking! Delighted to participate!
@jeromekurtiss@JS_9495@thejournal_ie Biological sex doesn’t really exist now as a definable category in any meaningful sense, regardless of common usage. For all intents and purposes, the sex categorization has been replaced by gender identity.
@jeromekurtiss@JS_9495@thejournal_ie In Irish law, there are 2 ways that sex is determined - by the sex you are born as or by the application for a gender recognition certificate which changes both your gender and sex for all purposes. So it hasn’t been accurate to say that sex determines sex since 2015.
Independent Ireland is proud to announce the candidacy of Nadaline Webster for South Tipperary in the upcoming general election.
Nadaline is a marketing and strategy consultant in the legal technology field with a focus on intellectual property law, brings a wealth of experience and a deep commitment to the issues affecting rural Ireland.
With over a decade of experience in helping start-ups grow from early funding stages to equity events, Nadaline is no stranger to tackling challenges head-on. “I’ve been very fortunate to be part of two fantastic teams that brought two different companies all the way from early funding to equity event over the last 10 years, and I’m very proud of that track record,” Webster stated.
Hailing from a farming background, Nadaline Webster is a strong advocate for farmers. She recently authored a book in 2023 that explores the flaws in the methodology used to calculate methane emissions from livestock and the unfair penalties levied on farmers as a result. “Farmers should be measured accurately and shouldn’t be punished for harm they aren’t doing, but it’s difficult to gain any traction with a government that’s not interested in whether they are treating people fairly or not,”
Webster highlights the larger issues at stake, noting that the decisions being made about the agricultural sector will affect food security, energy, transport, and ultimately, the rural way of life. “The government’s coercive tactics to force farmers to reduce emissions for multiple sectors is deeply concerning. The consequences will reverberate far beyond agriculture, and anyone who cares about fundamental rights should be paying attention.”However, Webster’s platform extends far beyond agricultural reform.
Michael Collins, Leader of Independent Ireland, expressed strong support for Webster’s candidacy:
“Nadaline brings a unique combination of experience in business and a deep understanding of rural Ireland’s challenges. Her tireless advocacy for farmers and rural communities is exactly what we need in South Tipperary. Her work in standing up for the rights of farmers has been fantastic, the people of Tipperary south have in Nadaline, a candidate who will be a fantastic representative for her constituency”
TD Michael Fitzmaurice highlighted her work in agriculture, saying,
“Nadaline’s voice on the methane emission issue is critical. Farmers deserve fairness and transparency, and Nadaline has the expertise and determination to hold the government accountable. She has done incredible work to date in scientific analysis of the data that affects farming and agriculture. Nadaline Webster is a fantastic candidate and advocate for farmers and we are delighted she has chosen to run with us for the General Election. I would urge the people of South Tipp to get behind Nadaline and help to elect a candidate who will deliver on the issues that matter”
Richard O’Donoghue, General Secretary of Independent Ireland, commented on her commitment to rights and democracy:
“Nadaline’s focus on representative democracy and protecting fundamental rights aligns perfectly with Independent Ireland’s mission. Her candidacy is a powerful statement about the future we want for all of Ireland.”

I'm speaking on the climate panel on Wed morning so definitely focused there but we're organic suckler and tillage so hoping for lots of tips. Am intrigued by 'wake the f**k up' and the farmer chat sessions. And I want to attend as many science based ones as possible too. Would love to see some law panel discussions in the future too - we don't have enough people discussing the impacts on rights of many of the policies at the minute imo.
