Crypto is finally getting official recognition.

The Federal Cabinet has approved the creation of the Pakistan Virtual Assets Regulatory Authority (PVARA) a landmark move to regulate and grow the country’s digital asset economy.

Here’s what it means in simple terms:

What is PVARA?

A new, independent regulator for all crypto related businesses in Pakistan. It will license crypto platforms, monitor them for compliance, enforce AML/KYC rules, and make sure global standards (like FATF) are followed.

What’s the Bigger Picture?

This builds on the earlier formation of the Pakistan Crypto Council (PCC) in March 2025, which includes top government institutions like SECP, SBP, and Ministries of Finance, IT, and Law. The aim is clear – one national strategy for digital assets.

Why Now?

- Over 40 million crypto users in Pakistan, mostly under 30
- $300 billion traded yearly, mostly via informal channels
- Huge untapped power supply ideal for mining and Web3
- Pakistanis are already deep into crypto,it's time to make it legal, safe, and structured
