O Eternal with no beginning, O Sustainer, I beseech You for Your generous protection, boundless grace, and special care and kindness for Syria and its people—from its northernmost reaches to its southernmost lands, from its eastern borders to its western frontiers. The tribulation has persisted upon it and its people, stretching long and deep, as the forces of near and far have come to it with unrelenting cruelty. They stoke the flames of division and displacement, inciting violence, destruction, impoverishment, ignorance, starvation, exile, and the sowing of hatred. They adorn in the eyes of its people a violent civil strife that spares neither life nor property, devoid of insight into consequences, balances, priorities, or capabilities.
The oppressed people of Syria—those who are innocent and destitute—have grown weary of the calamities inflicted upon them, both by those near and far. They have been assailed in their security, livelihoods, sustenance, children, education, past, present, and future. All the while, every party claims to support them but, in truth, seeks only to make them fuel for its narrow objectives, dictated by myopic religious/sectarian or political ideologies cloaked in lofty slogans and diverse appellations. Behind all this lies a greater intent: to prolong their affliction and perpetuate their suffering until certain calculations are realized or a measure of mercy finds its way into hardened hearts. There is no strength nor power except in You, O Almighty and Exalted One.
O Lord of the earth and Heavens, we also implore you for all the lands of Greater Sham and its people, for the wounded Sudan and its generous people, for Libya and its honorable people, for oppressed Somalia, for once-prosperous Yemen, for majestic Iraq, Afghanistan the exhausted, Pakistan the tested, and for all the lands, communities, and countries.
O Lord, for the sake of each innocent child,
Grant peace to the lands where the storms have been wild.
Let harmony reign in the East and the West,
And give all suffering people their rest.
Turn away harm, though ingratitude grows,
And plant seeds of love where enmity shows.
Let mercy descend, though sin may abound,
And soften the hearts where hatred is found.
Preserve children's laughter, their pure, gentle sound,
For even the chuckle of children turns barren earth living and abound.
When their voices resound through the desolate air,
They bring life and hope to a world in despair.
O Allah, through Your most beautiful Names and exalted Attributes, we implore you, plead, and supplicate to You for swift relief, encompassing kindness, and a mercy so vast that it suffices us from seeking the mercy of any but You, O Most Merciful of the merciful. Blessings and peace be upon your Final Prophet and Messenger Muhammad, upon his purified family, upon his honorable wives—the Mothers of the Believers—and upon his progeny, companions, and all his beloved ones. Include us among them through Your mercy, O Most Merciful of the merciful.
