@cestmoiLanglois It surprised me, too, but they followed the 49ers twice, were burned out in conflicts with Native inhabitants twice, and got washed out by California’s big flood of that era. They moved for free land. It’s a story of failure or the stubborn pursuit of the American dream
@cestmoiLanglois At least 15, not including in-between-moves. Probably closer to 20+. I made a chart of generational moves going back to my great great grandparents. That generation of 1870s Americans were constantly on the move (in my family.) My parents’ generation moved the least.
