In Senate hearing on hate, Sen John Kennedy says Arab American Institute ED Maya Berry (only Muslim witness) supports Hamas, Hezbollah.
"You should hide your head in a bag."
Hearing strayed far from beginning which acknowledged Tree of Life victims & 6-year-old Wadea al-Fayoume.
Senator Kennedy's horrific remark to Maya Berry, Executive Director of the
@AAIUSA, “you should hide your head in a bag," is a blatant example of anti-Arab, anti-Palestinian, and anti-Muslim rhetoric.
There must be full accountability for the killing of Aysenur Eygi. The shooting that led to her death never should have happened—and no one should ever be killed for exercising their right to peaceful protest. We will continue to press for answers from Israel’s government.
As a democrat, who has believed this party valued equality, today I feel jaded by lack of inequality in the @DemConvention roster of speakers. The glaring void of a Palestinian American voice to share the pain suffering of their extended family in Gaza sends a message @TheDemocrats don’t value Palestinian Americans, Arab Americans, and Muslim Americans voters.
Dem Party, now you have really lost Michigan and at your own hands.
A Palestinian American should speak at the United Center in Cook County—home to the largest Palestinian community in America. DNC made room for others but not a Palestinian voice. We call on the DNC to live up to its promise of representing all of us! @uncommittedmvmt
.@DNC: Why are you saying that Israeli children are more valuable than Palestinian children? Where is our shared humanity? Stop erasing Palestinians. We exist. We deserve to be heard.
Excited to be at #DNC2024 alongside my colleagues at @Emgage. Not sure what to expect but I’ll be listening and asking questions in preparation for the #2024Elections. It may change, but I’m currently #uncommitted. The two party system has my head spinning. Holler if youre there
The @WhiteHouse has deferred enforced departure for at least 18 months of Lebanese nationals because of insecurity in Southern Lebanon. We welcome this decision to not send our community members back to insecure areas if they don’t feel safe to do so.

We welcome @VP’s support for a ceasefire in Gaza and an end to the war. We look forward to seeing substantive policy change including not funding further violence, providing humanitarian aid, and establishing Palestinian sovereignty.
BREAKING: 400 American Jews mark Netanyahu's arrival by refusing to leave Congress until our government listens to the will of the people and STOPS ARMING ISRAEL!
Warning:
A war criminal is at loose on Capitol Hill. He was sighted inside the Congress today. If you see him, don't approach him. Report him to The Hague. He massacred 40,000 people, injured 89,000, and is starving 2 million people in Gaza.

Seven major unions just sent a joint letter to Biden calling on him to "immediately halt all military aid to Israel" ahead of Netanyahu’s visit to Washington:

--APWU (postal workers)
--AFA (flight attendants)

Benjamin Netanyahu is the worst leader in Jewish history since the Maccabean king who invited the Romans into Jerusalem over 2100 years ago. The Prime Minister is putting the security of Israel, the lives of the hostages, the stability of the region, and longstanding Israeli democratic norms in perilous jeopardy, simply to maintain the stability of his far-right coalition and absolve him of his own legal troubles.
Tomorrow's address is the next step in a long line of manipulative bad-faith efforts by Republicans to further politicize the U.S.-Israel relationship for partisan gain and is a cynical stunt by Netanyahu aimed at aiding his own desperate political standing at home. There is no question in my mind it should not be happening.
Still, I have not given up on the dream of an Israel that can live in peace with its neighbors, including with Palestinians, through a negotiated two-state solution.
My statement on my decision to attend tomorrow's joint address:
