It's very hard to start and run a gang...unless you're Kevo Lumide.
Kevo Lumide, also called Dangula, started as a tout on routes like Kayole–CBD, working in various PSVs including the famous TellaBang.
Kevo was a charming young man, and people were easily attracted to him. This influence enabled him to establish the Mauki Family, one of the first fully teenage criminal gangs in Eastlands. The gang was known for extortion on matatus, armed robberies, carjackings, and intimidating residents.
Notably, Kevo personally recruited his team and would hold an initiation ritual for the recruits, which entailed shaving their heads and baptizing them with marijuana smoke.
He also had a clever way of attracting members... he would flaunt bundles of KSh 1,000 notes on Facebook, and a pistol resting on a table, as if telling hungry youths: this is what the game brings. Money, respect, girls, designer clothes...come get them too!
By 2015, he was one of the most wanted criminals in Nairobi for terrorizing residents with his group, and on June 9, 2015, Kevo posted: “thanx god am still alive nlkua n-die bt aliniokolea nimetoka kwa icu kongezwa maji bt stll strong"
He had survived a gunshot by the cops, and for a moment, he sounded grateful and remorseful.
Then, on July 12, 2015, he posted: "i av a few days 2 live cz am in a criaz situation and if i dnt stop ts hobby am gona be déäd plz god help me”
The July post came after cops were hunting his gang so badly across hoods like Kayole and Eastlands, and numerous gangsters had already been downed...he knew his days were numbered.
However, there was a human side to him. He was a desperate lover who had been shown dust by love. His main woman was called Marimar Achiki. While I can't verify this information, it appears they had a child together, and he constantly posted his frustrations about the woman.
For instance, on May 20, 2015, he posted: "my heart is missing something....I don't know what I did to you, plz forgive me hun, my lovely Marimar...I'll do anything in this world just to have you back"
On a lonely evening of November 9, 2015, he seemed to be in dire need for someone to supply electricity to. He posted: "C msupa mmoja akam anitoe baridi aki."
However, November 21 marked the beginning of his end.
Kevo Lumide arrived with bikes at Galleria in Karen with three other boyz, intending to rob an ATM shop. These were unfamiliar grounds, as they had always played in ordinary people's hoods like Kayole. They didn't know that these are who-is-who places, and special cops were stationed all over.
Just when they were dashing for the ATM shop, shots rang out. They didn't expect this, and Lumide was stunned. Two of his friends were downed instantly. Lumide rushed and hid behind vehicles, while the other accomplice hid behind another.
The unfamiliar grounds meant they couldn't slip away like they used to...they knew no panya routes. They were trapped. As they stayed there wondering what to do, more cops arrived.
Lumide stared at his friend at the further end, and they smiled at each other. They knew what to do...what they had always done: FIGHT.
They fired at cops, and cops fired back...nipe! nikupe!...shika!...kamata!
Then his friend took a hit and logged out instantly...Lumide was the last man standing...he knew it was over.
In a daring move, he crawled between cars, determined to at least take a cop with him. He had seen an easier target. He triggered his pistol, readied it....and....baaang!
Lumide fell on the ground and logged out instantly. A cop had spotted him just seconds before he could shoot the officer and splashed several coppers on his head and chest.

There was drama after a man was caught allegedly attempting to kidnap a child. Furious residents poured hot porridge into his gumboots while he was still wearing them. The screams he let out shows just how effective the method of public participation was.

@SwahiliOz@AugustusMusungu@brighton_k2@MartinMKivuva@ItsJeffreyJeff I'm also a father of one. And if my wife leaves today, the man who would take her together with my son would be the most stupid person I've ever seen...and should know he'll never call her and the child his while I'm alive.
Your husband married you with one kid, right?
@MartinMKivuva@ItsJeffreyJeff Hii life nimelearn God gave men a duck and pair of balls so they can make as many kids as possible with whoever they want, whenever, wherever. Why the hell would you inherit another man's child while you can make yours?
