VIDEO | Bhubaneswar, Odisha: Five baby orangutans rescued from the Balasore forest have been brought to the Nandankanan Zoological Park in Bhubaneswar. The young primates arrived at the zoo earlier today and were immediately taken in by wildlife officials. Given their tender age, the infants will be hand-reared at the zoo's Centre for Rearing Animal Babies, a specialized facility equipped to care for orphaned and rescued young animals.

We are now learning that the MCD itself has admitted that the building was constructed in a zone where so many floors were not permitted. It was a high-occupancy PG, yet there was no approved building plan. Despite this, the PG was still operating. Now, we are seeing two layers of failure here. The first is the immediate failure: illegal construction took place, safety norms were not followed, and these norms were not enforced by the MCD or other local agencies. The second layer of failure is the structural failure. There is a huge student population around the Delhi University campus, yet an unregulated private PG economy continues to operate in the area, with virtually no enforcement. The required regulations are not being followed. These two layers of failure are being seen repeatedly across the country, not just in Delhi. As a result, the infrastructure available for students has, in a way, completely collapsed.”
