@steipete Unfortunately I fear that that is a side-effect of success. People will always be looking for handouts. Especially in the security world where they know that bounties can be astronomical.
I’ve not tried it yet, but I love the idea. I’m suitably inspired.
@nickchapsas If not for the gaming situation and screen reader accessibility issues when developing using a Mac, I would’ve probably stuck to Mac as well. I feel like the time is ripe for a Windows Challenger that isn’t Apple, a nice, clean, Lean, easy to use system. Sadly I had to come back.
@shanselman The problem is I guess for desktop development, there’s never really been a clear multi platform easy to use favourite. Also as an industry we pumped out web devs like there was no tomorrow, a storm of web apps followed. I’m still pleasantly surprised by a well made TUI.
A small bit of success to report, in my efforts to make the game #rimworld more #accessible, I got my first screen reader output last night. Hoping I can turn this into something bigger 🤞🏻
Happy Global Accessibility Awareness Day!
Something worth being aware of; in the UK working from home is deemed a "reasonable adjustment", meaning employers are legally obliged to allow it as accessibility for disabled staff.

@TheWobblyGamer@ianhamilton_@raypenbersucks I’ve been getting into it since it’s moved to Netflix again.
Weirdly the Netflix previews have audio description, but not the shows themselves. It’s a weird one because they’ve obviously got a commentary team, who will cover… Some of it. I can follow it without looking mostly
@Black_D_Gamer1 I don’t think so. Pictures are a visual medium. If the fun there is just looking at something, go look at the picture. Gameplayers where the fun is at. And there is no good reason why someone with no vision shouldn’t be able to enjoy gameplay.
Quick poll: Are you a #gamerWithoutSight or #Blind gamer who uses guides where they're available?
If so, which of these do you prefer to use?
Reply with any comments or other information.
Signal boosts appreciated too.
#accessibility
If one more person can play your game because of a #accessibility setting you’ve added, you should be able to hold your head up high and say “I’m proud of what I’ve done”. Fantastic talk @TheWobblyGamer#GAConf
@TheWobblyGamer@bateson87 I think with how wracked with paranoia the gaming industry is, that might be wishful thinking. Shane, as it’d be great to know more.
