Yesterday, the United Opposition principals Kalonzo Musyoka, Rigathi Gachagua, Martha Karua, Eugene Wamalwa, and my candidate Fred Matiang’i met IEBC chair Erastus Ethekon.

At that meeting, they pathetically "warned," "urged," "raised concerns" and that was it.

We, your supporters, have ZERO trust in this rigged IEBC circus, from delays in staffing, Marjan's stench from 2022, crooked appointments especially with that chairman, stalled voter registrations, sham by-elections recently and Ruto's puppet strings everywhere.

And your best move was whimpering warnings over tea and mandazi? You deal with such an IEBC with fire and salvo in the streets! A police station was burnt in Mbeere North and IEBC did not declare the by-elections a sham and you talk over coffee?

Kenyans see the submission game forced upon them crystal clear - the one to protect the system. Ruto's fingerprints are all over IEBC and you walked right in, eyes wide open, like....wacha nisiseme idiots.

Our support to you is not blind loyalty. You, the UNITED OPPOSITION will do exactly what WE demand, or we'll bundle you with Ruto on his one-way trip to political hell. 2027 isn't just an election. It's #HomelandOrDeath

Woken up to some devastating news of the passing of my brother and friend Cyrus Jirongo in a terrible road accident this morning on the Nairobi-Nakuru highway.
CJ as he was popularly known,was one of the kindest souls to have ever walked the face of this earth and was generous to a fault.
He was also one of the most candid leaders who would fearlessly speak his mind and call a spade a spade and not a big spoon.
He was a patriot who believed in and fought for the unity of the Mulembe Nation and the larger Kenyan Nation .
On my own behalf, on behalf of my family and on behalf of @DAP_Kenya , l wish to convey my deepest condolences to his family, friends and the people of Lugari who loved him dearly as their Mp and leader.

STATEMENT OF CONDOLENCE ON THE PASSING OF THE RT. HON. RAILA AMOLO ODINGA, EGH, SECOND PRIME MINISTER OF THE REPUBLIC OF KENYA.

It is with profound sorrow and a deep sense of national loss that I join millions of Kenyans and friends across the world in mourning the passing of the Rt. Hon. Raila Amolo Odinga, EGH a statesman of monumental stature, a champion of our democracy and Devolution, one of Africa’s Foremost panafricanist and Defender of justice, freedom, and equality.

The Rt. Hon. Raila Odinga’s life embodied courage, sacrifice, and unwavering commitment to the ideals that define our Republic. Through decades of struggle, he stood firm against oppression and inspired generations to believe that Kenya could indeed become a land of fairness, unity, and dignity for all.

I had the rare privilege of working with Raila Odinga and with his late father, the Rt. Hon. Jaramogi Oginga Odinga, alongside my late brother, Hon. Michael Kijana Wamalwa, who deputised Jaramogi during the Ford–Kenya days. Our shared journey continued when I had the honour of serving under Raila as the Second Prime Minister and Supervisor of all Ministries during the Grand Coalition Government, where I joined the Kibaki–Raila Cabinet as the last Minister for Justice, National Cohesion and Constitutional Affairs.

Our paths again crossed during my tenure as Minister for Devolution and ASALs, where I worked closely with him as the Champion of Devolution, a cause to which he contributed immensely through the 2010 Constitution. He religiously attended every Devolution Conference, continued to inspire leaders at both levels of government, and remained steadfast in defending and strengthening Devolution in our country up to his last days.

Our paths once again converged when I joined him under Azimio la Umoja with my party, the Democratic Action Party of Kenya (DAP–K), in supporting his presidential campaign during the 2022 General Elections. Together with former Kakamega Governor Wycliffe Ambetsa Oparanya, we led his campaigns in the Western Kenya region, an experience that reaffirmed my admiration for his steadfast belief in unity, equity, and progress for all Kenyans.

As a nation, we mourn the passing of a giant whose footsteps will forever guide our political conscience. His legacy is not written in titles or positions held, but in the hearts of a grateful nation and in the democratic foundations he so selflessly strengthened.

On behalf of my family and my party, the Democratic Action Party of Kenya (DAP–K), I extend my deepest and heartfelt condolences to Mama Ida Odinga, the Odinga family, the ODM family, and all Kenyans who today share in this grief. May the Almighty God grant comfort, strength, and peace during this period of profound mourning.

Kenya has lost a father. Africa has lost a visionary. The world has lost a voice of moral courage.
May his soul rest in eternal peace.

"I’ll be turning 95 this coming Monday. In my younger years, I was often filled with worry — worry that I wasn’t quite good enough, that no one would cast me again, that I wouldn’t live up to my mother’s hopes. But these days begin in peace, and end in gratitude.

My life didn’t quite take shape until my forties. I had worked steadily — on provincial stages, in radio plays, in West End productions — but I often felt adrift, as though I was searching for a home within myself that I hadn’t quite found.

At 50, I accepted a television role that many would later associate me with — Hyacinth Bucket, of Keeping Up Appearances. I thought it would be a small part in a little series. I never imagined that it would take me into people’s living rooms and hearts around the world. And truthfully, that role taught me to accept my own quirks. It healed something in me.

At 60, I began learning Italian — not for work, but so I could sing opera in its native language. I also learned how to live alone without feeling lonely. I read poetry aloud each evening, not to perfect my diction, but to quiet my soul.

At 70, I returned to the Shakespearean stage — something I once believed I had aged out of. But this time, I had nothing to prove. I stood on those boards with stillness, and audiences felt that. I was no longer performing. I was simply being.

At 80, I took up watercolour painting. I painted flowers from my garden, old hats from my youth, and faces I remembered from the London Underground. Each painting was a quiet memory made visible.

Now, at 95, I write letters by hand. I’m learning to bake rye bread. I still breathe deeply every morning. I still adore laughter — though I no longer try to make anyone laugh. I love the quiet more than ever.

I’m writing this to tell you something simple:

Growing older is not the closing act. It can be the most exquisite chapter — if you let yourself bloom again.

Let these years ahead be your TREASURE YEARS.

You don’t need to be famous. You don’t need to be flawless.

You only need to show up — fully — for the life that is still yours.
