Namibia, as a former Co-Facilitator of the Pact for the Future with Germany, was pleased to participate in the UN- PGA-led Interactive Dialogue, on the Pact and UN80 Initiative delivery, and emphasised the need for measurable outcomes through a more agile UN system.

Namibia participated in the Interactive Dialogue of UN Member States with Mr. Rafael Grossi, candidate for the position of Secretary General of the UN. Namibia posed questions on the implementation of the Pact for the Future, support for Africa in UNSC Reforms, & the WPS Agenda.

On the occasion of the International Day of Remembrance of the Victims of Slavery and the Transatlantic Slave Trade, HE Penda Naanda addressed UN Member States, reflecting on the horrific legacy of slavery, the slave trade, colonialism, apartheid, and racial segregation.

Today, 25 March, the UN marked the International Day of Remembrance of Victims of Slavery and the Transatlantic Slave Trade. The Commemorations were addressed by HE President John Mahama of Ghana, HE Annalena Baerbock, PGA, HE Antonio Guterres, UN-SG, and several Member States.

Today, Amb. Penda Naanda delivered a statement on the occasion of the 60th Commemoration of the International Day for the Elimination of Racial Discrimination, marked each year on 21 March, which coincides with Namibia’s Independence Day and SADC Liberation Day (23 March).

HE Penda Naanda chaired a side-event of the UN Palestine Committee on the margins of CSW-70, calling for justice and accountability for Palestinian Women and Girls, and the promotion of their rights, including their inalienable right to self-determination, freedom and dignity.
