Chuck Thompson is one of the greatest baseball broadcasters ever.
But in the prime of his career he may have been best known for saying “Unitas - Berry Touchdown.”
Berry scored 70 touchdowns for Baltimore and played everyday of his career as a Colt. A legend and a huge part of those great Colts teams that shaped the league.
1989: BOTD Dave Meggett turns 60. A huge part of #NYGiants success in late 1980s/early 1990s, he was one of the best 3rd down RB/returners in the NFL & played for NYG from 89-94. Here taking a screen pass 57 yards for a TD in the snow. Sadly, he was an awful person off the field
Heaven Birthday, Ollie Matson🕯️
NFL Legend, PFHOF Class of 1972
Drafted third overall by the Chicago #Cardinals in 1952, the Olympic medal-winning sprinter brought versatility to the NFL running back position.
Primarily a halfback and return man, Matson played 14 seasons — retiring in 1966 ranked #2 all-time in career all-purpose yards.
In 1957, Ollie became the first Black NFL player ever to appear on the cover of Sports Illustrated.
He was the centerpiece of one of NFL history's most famous trades — the #Rams sending the rights of NINE players (including two draft picks) to the Cardinals for Matson in 1959.
6 Pro Bowls
5x First-Team All-Pro
1950s All-Decade Team
Happy birthday, Luis Aparicio 🎉
On his 92nd birthday, we recognize the oldest living Orioles Hall of Famer and a member of our 1966 World Championship team.
In his five seasons with the O’s (1963–67), Aparicio led the AL in stolen bases twice and is tied for fifth on the club’s all-time stolen bases list with 166.
LA Chargers HC Jim Harbaugh - Installing the Ravens System of Defense (Mike Macdonald/Jesse Minter)
- "It's the best scheme, it's got answers for everything. You're not exposed for big plays. It's great defense."
- "They had different takes on the defense. Jesse (Minter) more of a secondary view down of the defense. Mike (Macdonald) kind of the middle view of the front and back end."
