@Prithvi10_ Also while he debuted in Tests in 2012 he wasn't a permanent member of the Test side till the 2016 NZ series at home.Till then the likes of Amit Mishra and Ojha(even Bhajji) were often preferred over him as the 2nd spinner. And they would play Ashwin overseas till NZ tour in 2020

@Prithvi10_ Since the start of 2021, he has started getting injured. Was injured for 2 entire series (in which he would have played all the test)- vs Eng at home in 2021 and then in BDesh in 2023.Again was injured for 2 Tests in Aus in 2021 and for 1 test vs Eng in 2024.That's 9 tests missed

@Prithvi10_ Ofc he missed the last test against Afghanistan due to injury as well. So that is 10 Tests missed due to injury in the last 5 years (and had he been he was certainly going to play each of those) and 6 of those are at home. In contrast Ashwin never missed a home Test.

There was a terrific spell at Chennai back in 2012, but even better was a spell he bowled in the 1st inning of the 1st test at Kanpur in the 2021 series. It was a remarkably skillful spell of conventional seam bowling, cutters and reverse swing

The best series will be Aus will SA in SA which will decide which is currently the best team in the world

@thisnzbro @Whitmil150 @BenWrig94891599 @HughMacloud Actually Cairns at his peak might have been a superior bowler than Southee all considered. Could reverse swing and had a very good leg cutter. Southee was very good but his avg improved because he was part of a much better attack.

@HughMacloud @BenWrig94891599 Cairns won as many if not more matches than Stokes. He also batted on far more difficult pitches than the ones England usually plays at home. Infact it is Cairns (and not Stokes) who is a better player than his record (which is already excellent and better than Stokes) suggests
