Why do we do the Rosary space every night?
In “Secrets of the Rosary”
St. Louis de Montfort wrote about public rosary & the grace that everyone that participated receives.
He gives several reasons:
🌹Christ is present in a special way.
He points to Matthew 18:20:
“Where two or three are gathered in my name, there am I in the midst of them.”

🌹De Montfort says that when Catholics gather to pray the Rosary, they have the consolation of Christ’s promised presence.
The prayers strengthen one another.

🌹He beautifully explains that if one person’s attention wanders, another’s fervor helps compensate. The strong support the weak, the fervent inspire the lukewarm, and the whole group offers one united prayer to God.

🌹The merits are shared.
One of his most striking statements is:
“One who says his Rosary alone only gains the merit of one Rosary; but if he says it with thirty other people he gains the merit of thirty Rosaries.”
This should be understood in the context of the Catholic doctrine of the communion of saints and the communal nature of prayer. He is not saying God mechanically multiplies merit like arithmetic, but that communal prayer shares in the spiritual fruits of everyone praying together.
The devil fears united prayer.

🌹De Montfort compares a group Rosary to an army:
The devil may more easily overcome the prayer of one person, but when many unite in prayer, it is “far more formidable” to him.

This fits the broader Catholic tradition

🕊️In short, Shawn & I could certainly pray the rosary together privately, but praying it with everyone that wants to pray with us gives all of us the ability to lift up everyone’s prayer’s & intentions!
