🧵1/4 Canada's Trade Surplus
Canada does not "rip off" the US when there is a trade surplus. We simply sell the US Canadian goods and services at free market prices.
Canada doesn't force the US to do this, you could buy them from US companies, or other countries.

The amount of work being done by foreign & domestic trolls to undermine Prime Minister Trudeau and force an election is unprecedented.
It only emphasizes the importance of ensuring he remain the Prime Minister for the next few months at minimum.
You all do understand that Conservatives will destroy Canada. Just look at Ontario and Alberta and how they are faring under Conservatives Reign #IStandWithTrudeau2025
In 2008, FDIC insurance is why people did not lose all their money in their bank accounts despite those banks going under, and a second great depression did not occur

Perhaps you can explain to me how exactly Canada is “ripping off” the United States? The trade deficit is because you buy lots of oil, lumber, food, and so on from Canada (often raw resources) - you have a population of 330 Million people and Canada has a population of 40 million people. If you stop buying Canadian oil and Canadian electricity the trade deficit goes away immediately. But you buy those raw resources because you need them. It seems you don’t understand basic economics unfortunately - disappointed in @CNN for voicing utter nonsense - who “annexes” a country because of trade deficits?
To all my American friends. This is not funny. We are a close ally and defence partner. Our two countries share a long border, extensive trade relationships, and deep cultural ties. Your President-Elect has plans to destroy all that. Again, not funny and no one is laughing.
You missed the point Peter. Prime Minister Trudeau probably intentionally picked an American news giant from South Dakota named Tom Brokaw to show-case even patriotic Americans deeply respect Canada. I'd ease up on the horse's bit. @Pagmenzies@acoyne
A timely post by Prime Minister Justin Trudeau. When Trump bragged about the height of his tower on 9/11, Canadians undertook Operation Yellow Ribbon:
-239 US-bound flights landed
-33,000 passengers disembarked
-17 Canadian airports said welcome @JustinTrudeau
Problem is the Bloc that is popular, sapping votes and allowing a Poilievre gov't in place. Now have the Party Québécois in the lead on Québec vouching to hold a rederendum on their separation and we have a recipe for a unity crisis and disaster. Again.
There you have it why many of us are so skeptical that polls against PM Trudeau will translate to votes for him. I'll believe it when results come out on elections day.
@merry123459 Big difference is that the Conservatives started with a surplus sold Canadian assets, cut our border security by 1100, Veterans Affairs by almost 1000, raised retirement to 67, increased us paying 2 more years of CPP. They cut social programs, and they still had a deficit!

🟥 Never forget that BENEATH the Multi-Million Dollar “make-over” is the VERY SAME guy who increased the age of eligibility for Old Age Security (OAS) and the Guaranteed Income Supplement (GIS) from 65 to 67 👀 — a move that FORCED low-income seniors to work an additional two years past their expected retirement age in order to FUND the Conservative government’s corporate tax cuts... 🤌🏼😑
