As many of you noted, the stain used in these #MorphologyMonday images is the one we use for peripheral blood films in haematology (MGG). This is not a Gram stain.
Here are some other test results:
- Gram staining showed the bacterial populations to be red.
- Large, flat, matte colonies on blood agar.
- Pink colonies on MacConkey agar.
What could the bacteria be? And if your view has changed, why do they appear as they do (size and shape) on the peripheral blood film? 🤔
