DOJ Warns CLARITY Act Could Weaken Crypto Crime Cases
The U.S. Department of Justice's Criminal Division has raised concerns that parts of the CLARITY Act could make it harder for prosecutors to pursue illicit crypto activity.
The DOJ's Criminal Division warned that Section 604 of the CLARITY Act could limit enforcement against money laundering involving digital assets. The provision would exempt certain decentralized services from key compliance obligations.
Pee reports, more than 70,000 law enforcement professionals have also urged changes to the legislation.
