17 years ago today, Russia invaded Georgia.

After days of bombing Georgian villages, Russian forces crossed the border in a full-scale assault. Civilians were killed. Towns were razed. And the world stayed silent...

It was the first real glimpse of Putin’s imperial ambition - tested on a small country.

No sanctions. No outrage. No red lines. The silence was permission.

Georgia stood alone and fought back fiercely, outnumbered but unbroken. Still, Russia expanded its occupation. 20% of Georgia remains under Russian control to this day.

What began in Georgia didn’t end in Georgia:

2008 was the dress rehearsal for 2014.
2014 was the preview of 2022.
And now, the world pays the price.
