Fascinating discussion on the role of infection in the Second World War. Not least the extraordinary impact of malaria on troops in the east. https://t.co/M4P5ffhdxM
Got to explain the historical importance and use of cavalry in warfare and the thinking behind 18th and 19th century linear formations to some of my science friends today. Today was a good day. #militaryhistory
My lab's letting all of us get new lab coats. I had to make a choice between a nice dark green coat or a white coat with elastic cuffs and snap buttons. Sadly, cruel practicality won out and I went with the latter. Dark green, I will be back for you one day.

Look I can accept the presence of gargantuan sand worms when there is clearly not enough organic life to sustain the metabolic activity of such massive creatures, but sand causing sclera to turn blue? I’m sorry, you lost me.
Reading zoology papers today. Weird seeing them citing work from the early 1900's, or even as far back as the 18th century, but a description of an animal is a description of an animal. Very different from the cell stuff I read, and cool to see the differences between fields
So I was putting my hand into a bag to grab some tea bags and a voice in my head said "try to not put your hands into the bag" because you know, contamination. Thanks #science#aseptic_technique. I'll be pouring tea bags out from now on.
