@10540Neg@rainylune I work at a No-Kill Shelter & Sanctuary. By definition, a no-kill shelter has a 90% save rate if following the guide set by Best Friends. Maricopa County Animal Care and Control and Pima County Animal Care Center have both been meeting that standard in the last few years.
@10540Neg@rainylune In a best case scenario, the county shelter can at least get them the medical care they need and send them out to their large foster network until theyβre healthy enough to be adopted. They also try to transfer out animals before they make the decision to euthanize.
@10540Neg@rainylune They can be, but most Arizona shelters, even the county shelters, have committed to becoming No-Kill and are implementing more policies to prevent unnecessary euthanasia. They also have access to a veterinarian every day while smaller rescues and shelters may not.
@feederofcats Iβm so sorry that you lost Bertie. π
I work at a cat shelter and sanctuary down in Tucson. These are the cats that always hurt the most to lose.
Thank you for being there for him, so that when he crossed he wasnβt alone and he knew he was loved.
@Kitchiki Here are Samwise and Rosie! Sammy has the blue eyes and Rosie has the amber eyes!
Sammy is head empty always and Rosie has no teeth so her tongue likes to stick out of her mouth. π₯Ή
