Cell phone addiction is an absolute thermonuke to the brain and nobody 'takes it seriously' because it is not clear that there is any solution in a world where the revealed preference of everyone across the globe, regardless of income, race, age, any factor whatsoever, would rather be on their phone than do *anything* else. Deciding "I use this too much" and meaningfully altering one's behaviour doesn't seem to have much success for any of the very small minority of people with the sentience or self-reflection to realize how bad it is. Most people seem to think of it as an unproductive habit at most, rather than an addiction. Any attempt to speak seriously about this is met with derision, accusations of pretentiousness. There is no real solution to it. The future of human cognition fifty years down the line is horrifying if you stop and think about it for even a moment.

Elon Musk's genius isn't the engineering of new rocket tech.

I call it the "Sci-fi make it till u make it" technique.

You have a chatbot.
You don't know how to make money with it yet.

You just talk about curing cancer and the singularity, and figure out everything else along the way, while investors pump a trillion dollars into your company.

Google had AI tech earlier but was sandbagging because they feared the new tech would eat their advertisment revenue.

The Elon Musk / Sam Altman generation of CEOs has the following characteristics:

1) They're already obscenely rich and take insane moonshot risks.
They don't fear collapse as older gen CEOs do

2) They dream big, generate constant hype, use science fiction language, do an extreme version of fake it till u make it, and put out tons of vaporware to keep the story/VC-cashflow going, until something sticks at the wall.

3) The extreme risk-taking, moneyflow, stories and talents involved create a self-fulfilling prophecy that imposs its will on reality.

The West is waking up to a simple fact: MAGA chose Russia.

For eighty years, Americans knew Moscow was the adversary. Truman knew it. Kennedy knew it. Reagan called the Soviet Union an evil empire. American soldiers prepared to stop Russian armour in Europe, taxpayers financed NATO, and intelligence officers spent careers penetrating the Kremlin.

Russia never changed. It invaded Georgia, seized Crimea, poisoned opponents, interfered in Western elections, attacked Western institutions, and launched the largest war in Europe since 1945.

What changed was part of America.

Trump spent years shouting “Russia, Russia, Russia” and “hoax”. It was never a hoax. Russian interference was real. The campaign to weaken NATO, divide America, discredit institutions and separate the US from Europe was real.

The Kremlin failed to break the West from outside. MAGA started helping from within.

So congratulations, Russia. You lost the Cold War, then found Americans willing to attack the alliance that defeated you and call it patriotism.

Quite a victory.

The problem with ASEAN is that it’s a feel-good talk-shop based on consensus. And the fundamental underpinning of ASEAN consensus is ‘saving face’.

Such diplomacy cannot work in the face of existential emergencies.

Singapore and Malaysia need to join forces and publicly pressure Indonesia on the world stage. Aggressive diplomacy is needed. Not saving face.

Take this to the UN now and ask for an emergency resolution.

If nothing else , it may shame the Indonesian government and make it lose popular support domestically.

Zelensky Is Playing Trump Like a Fiddle.

Donald Trump declared on Sunday that Russia and Ukraine had agreed to stop striking each other's energy infrastructure. Kyiv found out from the media and Moscow hasn't confirmed a thing, which tells you exactly how much of a deal there ever was.

Zelensky could have called it nonsense, and instead he did something far smarter. He said yes.

Ukraine will stop hitting Russian refineries the moment Russia stops hitting Ukraine's power grid, which means the only thing standing between Trump and his truce is Trump's ability to make Putin comply.

He can't, and Zelensky knows it. Within hours the ballistic missiles will be falling on Ukraine again, and every one of them is proof that Putin ignores the American president because it costs him nothing.

Zelensky has worked out that he never needs to defy Trump when he can simply agree with him and let Moscow expose the man as a lame duck who has nothing left but capital letters and exclamation marks.

The Indonesian government cannot be taken seriously.

Incompetence is endemic.

Jakarta isn’t affected , so they don’t care even that their own people in Kalimantan are dying.

The only way to deal with this is to humiliate the Indonesian government, especially @prabowo on the world stage. Singapore Malaysia and Brunei need to take this to the UN. It is performative , but only a ritual of public shame will move a government that is nonchalant about the lives of their own people, not to say foreigners.
