Fellas, I'm gonna fully migrate to the other before the updated TOS roll out. I'll also start posting art, so if you follow me for that, please go there. I'll post everything, both safe and not (for full SFW, use tumblr). I'll still post here just less often and no art.
Answering a bunch of questions about this new glitch
This glitch works by having the actor tied to the hitbox disappear during the bottle cutscene, while the hitbox is still active, and the new bottled item takes the place of the now despawned actor. Whatever happens to be in the memory space for the damage type becomes overwritten with whatever is in that memory space with the new actor. Because this has to do with memory loading and unloading stuff, this sometimes needs specific setups with things you need to do beforehand. That's why there was a seemingly random bomb in the ganondorf clip. What needs to be done beforehand will be very situational. Though the magic spin + fairy version seems pretty consistent without prior setup though.
This works on all releases of OoT (with potentially different setups on different versions). However, this seems to work very inconsistently on Ship of Harkinian. SoH changes how memory works which affects this glitch. The spin + fairy version doesn't seem to work at all, but the slingshot version can still work situationally.
This does also work in MM, most often using magic spin or deku bubble as the hitbox, and bugs or spring water as the bottled item. This usually gives powder keg damage. So it can be used to get to Romani Ranch and Goron Racetrack easily. They do need setups though. The best I've gotten for the ranch boulder is getting rid of the keaton grass, then bugs -> spin -> water. For goron racetrack boulder, slash the sign, then bugs -> spin -> water in front of the boulder.
Similarly to SoH, this trick seems inconsistent on 2Ship as well, with it working in some cases but not others. Hard to test everything right now but likely just needs different setups. MM recomp seems to work the same as console though.
For speedrunning viability - Although this seems like something obviously very useful on the surface, there's actually a bunch of minor details that makes it not as simple to just be an automatic timesaver in runs. The most obvious use would be volvagia without hammer for any categories that fight volvagia, mainly All Dungeons and MST.
This needs either magic or slingshot, both of which all dungeons currently skips. Magic would be way too far out of the way, but there is an idea got getting slingshot and beating volvagia as child that is being worked on, though no guarantee its faster (volvagia as adult without magic would need both slingshot and bow, because of how slingshot as adult works, so thats just too slow).
In MST, you get magic, so volvagia w/o hammer is free, but there's 1 single hammer switch in Ganon's Castle that hammer is still needed for, and this glitch unfortunately does not work on rusted switches. So for now MST can't skip it.
Even for low% categories, low% all dungeons and low% MST both skip bottle, so at best it could only be an item tradeoff, and not skip an item.
For GSR, the rules were redefined a while ago so that it actually requires bow/magic/light arrows rather than just being a ban on certain glitches like RBA/GIM/Wrong warp, so no use for it there.
The one main category this seems immediately good for is No Wrong Warp, which can now skip the long process to get magic in exchange for just slingshot, saving a few minutes.
Randomizer is definitely the biggest winner, with beating volavgia without hammer being huge for glitched/no logic. Because it gives hammer damage, it can also do other things like breaking rocks without bombs, so it'll have a good number of rando uses (though again, not in SoH, which kinda sucks).
Beating ganondorf w/o light arrows is also technically a huge deal in rando, but realistically, being able to skip light arrows in rando kinda breaks it too much, so I think its probably best to ignore it.
For MM glitched/no logic rando, early powder keg damage is really cool, also for being able to use it for destroying rocks without explosives or goron mask.
This is still being researched though, so things could change.
I like a topless fanart of the Acolyte, then this stupid site thinks it's okay to show me DLC spoilers on my feed.
Ig bro, I learned my lesson, saving the fixation for after I'm done with all the content 🥀🥀
