NCCM acknowledges the decision last month by the Halifax Provincial Court, which, after a two-year legal process, has convicted Mr. Samual Shaji of hacking into the social media account of former staffer Nargis DeMolitor and posting a hateful and antisemitic statement in her name.
For context, the Premier’s Office fired Ms. DeMolitor, a political staffer, shortly after an antisemitic post was made on her social media account.
As the Court has now upheld, Ms. DeMolitor was a victim of hacking, and did not post the hateful message.
NCCM and the broader Muslim community maintain that Ms. DeMolitor was unfairly smeared due to her Muslim identity, instead of being protected after becoming the victim of a criminal hack.
We call for a public response from the Premier’s Office in relation to clearing her name.
At the time of her dismissal, Nova Scotia Premier Tim Houston said to the media that there is “no place for hate in the PC Party or in Nova Scotia,” which, in our respectful view, implied that Ms. DeMolitor was herself being hateful.
Those remarks have caused significant harm to her personal and professional reputation - and, more importantly, the court has now cleared her of posting any such remarks.
We urge a full, transparent investigation into the circumstances of her dismissal, as well as real accountability for all individuals involved in the decision.
Well written, thought provoking perspective though I note there is no intent whatsoever to legally retract. Crown has been notified of the plan to proceed with the lawsuit. Case is as accurately described, active and well! @Muneezalawyer https://t.co/XSNarTshuW
Police lay impersonation charges
Police have laid impersonation charges in relation to an incident that occurred in Halifax last year.
On October 17, 2023, police received a report of a person who had accessed a social media account associated with a government employee, that was not their own, and sent out an antisemitic message as the account holder.
Investigators arrested the suspect at an address in Bedford on February 7, 2024. A 25-year-old man is scheduled to appear in Halifax provincial court at a later date to face one count of personation.

Our Government is working with HRM and private sector partners to get tiny homes built for those experiencing homelessness, a first for Nova Scotia. We're moving quickly, and will have people living in these new homes next summer.
It was an honour to join the former Speaker of the Nova Scotia House of Assembly Kevin Murphy for the opening of TranscenDental… NOVA SCOTIA’S FIRST AND FULLY ACCESSIBLE DENTAL CLINIC. I had the opportunity to see the ceiling lift in action. That was impressive!
Nice chat @Spryfield Multicultural festival with @IndiaConsulate Toronto team about emerging opportunities and the vast Indo Canadian generational contributions & multi sectoral impacts on a province that continues to be the destination of choice.

Yesterday, in Halifax, we joined in solidarity for the second year to observe Ukrainian Independence Day.
Many have come and welcoming them to Nova Scotia is something we will never forget.

Congratulations to the newest member of Team Tim Houston, MLA-elect for Preston, Twila Grosse! Twila will be a powerful voice for the people of her riding and Nova Scotians. Your PC government is one MLA stronger and will continue to deliver solutions for all Nova Scotians.
Have you heard about the MOST (More Opportunities for Skilled Trades) program? It returns the provincial income tax paid on the first $50,000 to young Nova Scotians under the age of 30 in trades, nursing, and film production.

Last weekend I attended the Cultural Artisans Market presented by Halitube and CIBC. It was lovely to see so many hard working local businesses, artisans and preformers from all over HRM!
Thank you to all the organizers!
