Consistent handwashing with soap is essential to good hygiene in South Sudan where more than half the population still practices open defecation. Hundreds turned up for the Global Handwashing Day in Northern Bahr el Ghazal, thanks to joint efforts by partners on the ground.

Resumption of fighting in Nasir worsens an already critical humanitarian situation arising out of two previous fights between the army and armed youth this year, displacing more than 40,000 households. Yesterday's fighting has already claimed four lives. It resumed today
